Those plates that protect the gas tank from rocks do not cover the whole tank?

There is a drain hole near the rear of the skid plate to allow water to drain out after water crossings and such. You can see the plastic gas tank through the hole. That would be the drill point for thieves.

Definitely a locking gas cap will help. May I aslo suggest a hood lock for your Jeep.
I have a cheap one that I bought from Rugged Ridge for twenty bucks. Nothing is truly secure if some one wants to steal but atleast they have to work harder to get it.

I thought gas prices were only an issue when GWB was POTUS. The news would have a virtual ticker-tape running constantly with the increased prices.....constantly beating GWB over the head with it.

Not much outrage on the MSM with Obungo at the helm. I guess folks are alright with $5/gallon.

Uhm, the prices had SOMETHING to do with Bush, but no one can do anything about prices until we stop depending on oil in the Middle East..

Sorry back on topic, I'm getting a fuel door ASAP, since I heard on the radio that gas will be at $5 a gallon by Memorial Day here in Va.

Mopar has (or had) a locking gas cap that is keyed to your ignition key. I had them throw it in when I bought the JK. If you go this route, (unless the product has been changed) you need to buy the tumblers from Mopar as well. I believe the dealer can key it for you however I have a friend who's a locksmith so he did it for me.

To be up front with you it's not as beefy as it looks, but it's not flimsy either. Just strong enough to get the job done.

In case anyone is interested, I was able to keep the plastic line to the cap. I just drilled a hole to the new cap and popped it in.

Thumbs up

Thanks for that pic. This is one of those "why didn't I think of that?" deals. Worked great for me!
