I would not do that. Not knowing the true engineering intent of the holes they could be there for heat dissipation also.

Default Jk fire

ronjehx Yes every one got out of the Jeep with out a scratch thank you for asking. I have 70,000 miles on my Jeep, Yes I have the Hemi conversion with 45000 miles put on the motor and trans. with no electrical problem what so ever. The Jeep is OK and the engine still runs fine. I will have to replace the TIPM fuse box and the entire wiring harness for the interior of the Jeep. I still believe the TIPM is at fault. The fire started at the bottom of the TIMP fuse box. This is not a isolated incident their are over 700 cases that have happened in the US not to mention 2 times that around the world to Stock and Modified Jeeps. Why would Jeep ie. Chrysler try to sweep this under the table. Money it all boils down to money. The recalls alone would put them under so there side is like I said above sweep it under the table until someone Dies!!!!!!!

Is the Jeep or TIPM being evaluated by an automotive fire investigator? It sure would be nice to know what started it.

I wonder if the holes became plugged with mud or something else causing water to pool high enough to make contact with electrical connections that when it dried and got wet again had cause corrosion to build. This in itself would make connection have resistance thus making poor connections resulting in heat.My

I'm not trying to defend Jeep by any means, but how many Jeeps have been made between 07 to now. I would think it has got to be close to if not over a million. So even if 1000 jeeps have had this happen it is still only .1%. The same could be said about Alternators, starters, engines(way more), or any other component for that matter. This can be chalked up to "Shit Happens". I know it is dangerous, but it isn't a very common problem. One in a thousand or more in the grand spectrum of things isn't that bad and can also be chalked up to "modified vehicles". I have seen several people on this forum using add a fuse kits to add accessories to their jeep. How many of these Jeeps that have had this problem have added extra load to their electrical system. Did this hemi jeep have bigger cooling fans that added extra strain to the TIPM. It seems as though there are alot of variables in this equation that havn't been accounted for. I don't see the need to scare people over this without more research as to what could have caused it.

I remember people used to say that jeeps rolled over all the time. It was found that if you didn't take a turn going 35mph+ that you wouldn't. The same can be said for this. Your TIPM won't catch fire if you don't add extra strain to the system that it is not rated for. I believe that people should be a little more careful when tampering with their electrical system. Something as simple as changing out to the wrong bulb can add undue stress to the system. These Vehicles aren't the same as the older ones.

Good Luck with your Jeep. I was just trying to be objective so try not to rip my head off. When observing the value of things, one must look at both sides of the coin.

Default fuse box fire

We will see there have been more than you will ever know that this TIPM was the cause of the fire!!!! I hired a Auto Fire Safety Consultant to tell me what caused this fire. He stated that a lot of Jeeps burn to the ground so not a lot of data could be collected. My Jeep do not so He will conduct an investigation as to why the Jeep caught on fire and how to prevent this from Happening to Stock or Modified Jeep!!! Then and only then we will know.

Blade and Sandcounting the Hemi conversion was done at a Jeep Dealership. Believe it or not the engine still starts, runs and drives.

I will give a full report once he has completed the investigated as to what caused this Fire so other can be safe!!!!

Don"t get me wrong I Love my Jeep and will drive it until Hell freezes over!!!!!!!!! But I want to know that this will not happen again to anybody!!!!!!!!
