Laugh now but envy my 1/2 doors later...
I agree about the kids looking so happy. My boys are 12 and 13 and the only time they seem to look happy is when you buy them something are they are leaving with out you. They can't wait to be old enough to drive the Jeep. They don't know that will never happen.
It's smart to make the template, and you did a GREAT job with the cuts. One day, when my kids are big and move out I'll probablly make the JK into a JT. I like the looks of that and it save me from buying a pick up down the road.
Good luck, subscribed for the finished "metal" doors.

Put the rear seats down and there's a cargo area mat for sale now that would cover the entire rear end--I could really get into that. So, what are you doing with those wood templates when you're finished with your project?
You know, I'd really be interested in something, even out of wood, that would let me make my JK look like this:

X3 on the cuties.
Our girls are 15,13,11.
The 15 yo thinks she is ready to drive
Our 13 yo was with me last weekend when I had the top down
and front doors off. She thought that was so cool
I'd love a set of half doors, but not at the price of the mopar ones.
Gonna be watching this thread w/ much interest!

I really like the look of 1/2 doors in the back, no doors up front too. Now that i'm started, I cant wait to get them done!

Look forward to seeing what you come up with. $2K for factory half doors is just rediculous.
