Default Jeep in Japan

My 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport in Japan! I was not fond of these bumpers, but now after looking at how "Andre JK" had modified his front bumper I am plan to do the same to mine. Thanks, "Andre JK" for a great idea!!

I also hate that there are no recovery points front or rear. I will need to modify the front bumper to allow the factory tow hooks. I plan to use a receiver hitch on the rear.

I have already relocated the number plate to the U.S. location and removed the mud scoop on the rear bumper.
Because the Japanese number plate is slightly larger than the U.S. plate the holes did not line up so I had to fabricate a mount point for the factory plate mount.

View from underneath the bumper after modification.

Been there in 2002; but drove
a Landcruiser courtesy if US Air Force.
It was so hot the pool at the Salalah Hilton felt like a hot tub.

So it seems that the so-called Euro-bumpers are indeed internationally spread.
One would even think - after seeing JKs from all continents in this thread - that the US/Canadian-style OEM front bumper is actually a minority!

To me the location of the "international" fog lights makes more sense as well (beam overlap, shoulder illumination, ...)

Hanging tow loops (vs. upright tow hooks) were likely a result of pedestrian protection.

Pedestrian protection act also gave us about 4-5cm of foam between the plastic and the first crossmember - formerly known as bumper - causing that "hanging-lower-lip"-look.

Rear bumper: the big fogs are great, but the low hanging license plate mount is a drawback. Behind that plastic though, hides a Mopar removable hitch coupler, which is bolted nicely to the rearmost crossmember, which enables my JKU to pull 3500kg.
