Thumbs up Project-JK Lil' Nemo Gets EVO Beefed Up Axle

After having bent our front 44 axle C's on Moby Dick very early on, we decided that it would be a good idea to start Nemo off right and have the front axle beefed up as much as possible before we did any wheeling with 35s. So in preparation for our upcoming Niagra Rim Trail run, we took Nemo down to Off Road Evolution for the full treatment

C2 Gussets
Magnum Sleeves
Control Arm Skids

On the rack

Drilled holes for the Magnums

Inserting the sleeves

Plug welding

Welding the end

Welding the C2 Gussets

Control Arm Skids

All done

Nemo is now ready for the rocks!

I wish it was easier for the DIY to sleeve the axles.

I've been thinking of sleeving my front axle, but I was wondering how they recommend getting the metal shavings out of the axle after drilling the holes for the welds.

well, if you can weld, it really isn't that bad of a job. i think the part that takes the longest is taking things off and drilling all the holes. you don't even have to be that great of a welded to do the plugs but sealing up the ends should be done by someone who has a pretty good hand at it.
