ok ... a couple of things

first off i jumpered power to pin 16 of the OBD II port and the programmer worked great! i'll have to just make a new 12v lead.

however there are other issues. i cleared the codes and chit came right back. the programmer picked up 2 codes:

U0154: LOST COMMUNICATION WITH OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION MODULE
U1147: it's not even in my PDF but the thing said something about detected another computer or something.

any idea's???

Default U1147

U1147 - "Loss of serial communications for class 2 devices"

I also found this description - U1147 - "Invalid or Missing Data for Vehicle Security"

I don't know what it means, but most Uxxxx codes all have this exact same verbiage. The "U" stands for the class 2 network. The U1145 is "loss of NAV communications" and U1146 is "loss of OnStar communications". So, since 1147 is the next number in line, my guess would be is that may be related to the radio head unit - - malfunctioning, disconnected, etc. Do you have the RER or REN, is it installed, and does it work?

U0154 - "Lost Communication With Restraints Occupant Sensing Control Module"

This one sounds like the seat belt sensor to me. Don't we have a front seat passenger sensor on the JKs? Is everything hooked up under the front seats? Maybe water damage to some connectors?

Just guessing here.....These sound annoying, but not hard to fix (compared to what you've been through)!

everything under the seats looked good ... those along with the power wire to the OBD II port going out, makes me think glass got to a wire under the dash or something. so tonight im going to pull the whole fakkin dash off and trace that SOB wire till it stops having connection. my hope is that maybe the 12v for that is the suply for some occupant sensor as well.

onstar would be a GM code ... and the radio works fine, its just the basic MP3/cd deck. no clue what RER or REN are ...

and this is what REALLY pisses me off ... b/c i have to pass PA inspection, i can NOT have the airbag light on. my jeep is 100% functional and safe to drive, and i bet the airbags would still go off! but as long as that light is on, i will never be alowed on the road. YAY for more computers!

From the best I can tell, the U codes are not vehicle specific, but are class 2 network generic....hence the Onstar code in the list. RER and REN are 2 of the NAV radio models that we have on our Jeeps. I was guessing you might have one of them. You will see the model name on the lower right of the radio head unit.

I think you are right about a severed wire somewhere.....

Did the "vehicle security" explanation give you any ideas?

i'm currently un-aware of any vehicle security in my jeep ... i was handed a single key when i bought it, no fab, power nothin. so unless my music only radio has its own army, or i'm just in the dark on this, i got nothin.

it has to be a broken wire somewhere ... i was unable to find ANY wire under the hood around the fuse block that was connected to pin 16. as well as fuse M22 (10A) isn't connected to either the batt or gnd. now i havn't check that with power on to see if it is suplied thru a relay yet ... but will tonight. so unless there is another fuse block i don't know about, that dash is comin out.

does anyone on this site have carfax and wana run my VIN?? i know there is stuff on there but i havn't been able to see it.

It looks like it goes to the powertrain module.

well, now i'm really confused ...

minor update, i'll get pics later. found a pair of sunglasses way up inside the dash above and to the right of the glove box i hope to find a lot more in there as it all comes apart tonight ... maybe even the manual!

also started to call around to see if anyone might have 2 of my wheels ... dude finaly called his suplyer who said those were new and on a national back order till the 3rd week of aug. at least now i have a time-frame to wait for.

then still end of september for the tire swingout. i called quadratec and 2 different guys have sounded SUPER confused when i asked to get just the swingout ... said it wasn't possible. need to befriend some smittybuilt rep to call the q-tec warehouse and see if any are lyin around ...

oh well, i'll have to rig some random 3rd brake light till that comes in, and won't have this thing done for vacation
