Pulled The Trigger
After some comparison shopping, I pulled the trigger on the Warn M8000 tonight. As little as I wheel (I hope to change that) I think it will be plenty of winch. I think it will suffice even if I start wheelin alot. It has great specs as far as line pull rating. It came down to either that one or one by Mile Marker. The Warn had better specs. Although more expensive, I think it's the better choice. I used Winch Depot, by the way.
both of you may want to consider the braket it is sold seperately for 10.00 i think but it will make your lives easier!! it not you will have to find an alt mount posit. but cables to the solanoid from the winch moter are only 1.5 feet long and very stiff. i wish i had a part # for you, but i think you can find it online at quadratec or 4 wheelparts
you wont be dissapointed it is a great peice of equip.

in regards to M8000 solenoid box mounting check this out

had already fabbed up protective grill for a/c condensor/radiator out of some expanded metal and 1/4 coldroll, was just enough room between it and grill to install solenoid box to expanded metal screen, keeps solenoid box neat and out of the way,and yes the stock cables did reach(just)

Good for you Red, you'll have a higher level of confidence when you do wheel, a respectable one obviously since you sound like the type to think things through, I've seen some wheel off without thinking twice and regret it due to breakage, being stuck, etc. Will be a good addition to your rig.

I think so, too!!
I had said I was gonna go with Smittybilt, but dammit. For a little less than 200 bucks more, I am gettin an American made product with a way better warranty and readily available parts. Not that I suddenly think there's anything wrong with the Smittybilts. I just thought it though and I think that's the best decision for me. I mean hell, if we keep supportin China, how can we complain when all our jobs are shipped overseas?

Great Winch! I have the same one. I made my own bracket to mount the solenoid. I got the idea from another JK-forum member. I dont have a working digital camera though, but it looks alot like the picture of the winch in the advertisement. Anyway, happy winchin!
