Shovel Mount Alternative
that is prolly one of the best installs i have seen, great job.
The only thing i can see going bad with it is, if you are buried in mud, and you use it, where do you stick it all muddy. If it was outside the jeep, it wouldn't matter...but great install...more details please

uhm...
if you are crawling around in the mud shoveling out your rig...
i would venture a guess that a few blobs of mud in the cargo area would be far less concern than elsewhere in the vehicle... like say... the drivers seat?
i think it kinda becomes a moot point.
great idea on the install.
I hope these picts come out, I'm trying a new program.
I hate the front bumper tow hooks because it always seems the D-rings slip out if I'm sitting nose up. So I drilled and tapped the back end of them. Home Despot sells a nice little 5/16 drill and tap set. Buy two because those tow hooks are son of a gun hard metal. Be careful and don't break the tap off.
Then I just used two Unistrut angle brackets (bolting those to the hooks), two Unistrut straight brackets (bolting those to the angle brackets) and a length of the small Unistrut bolted between them. Being a master of the overkill, I tack welded everything together. Then a coat of black paint to hide my ugly welds.
It holds my shovel, my axe and provides me with a place to mount some lights.
Oh yeah, it also keeps those danged D-rings where they belong.
Sorry about the bungees, I haven't had the time to make it to the store for some proper straps. And how do you get these pictures to open instead of just link?

well, if you have ever dug out a vehicle, the shovel gets really nasty, i on the other hand dont get that dirty, maybe my feet, but thats it, and thats what rubber floors are for...now im not so sure i want to go putting a ridiculously muddy shovel in the back inside of my jeep...
