Default Stolen jeep chula vista

Hey guys my 09 jeep jk was stolen on Wednesday from my driveway in otay ranch area,
Today morning I went to san ysidro mall and saw my stolen jeep parked with new baja california license plates, I called the police right away, sadly the vin number on the jeep was changed and matches with the numbers on the hood and doors with the new license plate. Police told me that this was a different jeep but im 100% sure that this is my jeep. Long story short I was able to prove that I am the owner of the jeep and they proceed with the investigation.

I am very surprise how fast they stole my jeep, changed the vin, imported the car to Mexico and got new license plates all legally.
Heres a pic of my jeep

Do you have the jeep now - did the cops reposes it for the investigation….and if you dont mind me asking, how did you prove it was yours….its not like a human where you can say 'here is a birthmark"….just wondering and man I hope everything works out for you.

please keep us updated.

Did you show the cops pictures that helped identify the jeep?

I gave them the keys and they were able to unlock and start the jeep, also the GPS had my address saved on the memory, many of my belongings were on the jeeps, my jeep had many body marks and I showed them pictures of my jeep with the same body damages.
The “new owner” of the car said that he bough the jeep a day ago in Tijuana but didn’t had the paper work available… I will post more info as soon as the directive provide me with more...

This is scary for me. I go to CV frequently to visit my folks (they live on Cuyamaca off L). I do worry that with my extensive mods my Jeep might be the target of some thieves looking to run drugs across the border (the BP always thinks that's what I'm up to when I drive Highway 98 into town, LOL).

BTW: I'm a grad of Castle Park--class of 67. You?

How were they able to steal it? They obviously didn't rekey it after the fact.
