Stolen jeep chula vista
my jeep does not have remote start, I only have one key and at the time of the incident the key was on my pocket. The police took the car and they are now working on the investigation. according to the detective there are 3 vin numbers hided on the vehicle and is almos impossible to find them, only the manufacture and CHP knows were they are.
Hope you get it back, this is the second one I've heard of from the Otay Ranch/Otay Mesa area in the past couple of months. Both the wife and I have JK's and we live in Otay Mesa so thank God for 2 car garages. We're also real careful where we leave them parked.
Holy crap!! That royally sucks!! I live in nc but stories like this make me think I need to buy a club or something similar bc I usually take the doors off from march to October.any ideas on other ways to protect our investments?

Is it possible you were set up from the very sale of the vehicle? That is, someone sold it to you, keeping one key, then sold the spare key to someone else, along with info on where you live, so they could stake out your place and steal it right after you arrived home. Since you got only one key, you must have bought it second hand. I'd let the police know about where you bought it. They may not be able to prove anything, but it might work in conjunction with other evidence to eventually catch the guy, if he's complicit in this. It is also possible that the prior owner did this, though he'd need a way to determine where you live (or did you buy it from an individual instead of a dealer?). How long did you have this Jeep?
To be honest theres nothing we can do to protect our investment, specially when dealing with experts, if they are planning to steal a vehicle they will do it not matter what. The day of the incident I went to Tijuana and I’m really sure I was follow to my house, I remember seen a rally cool jeep parked by my house which is strange because theres only 2 jeeps on my neighborhood and a couple minutes after that, my jeep was gone.
I just talked to my Mexican federal police friend and he recommend me to don’t press charges and move on, because he knows about the gang that stole my jeep and he told me that they are very dangerous. Since they know where I live they can do bad things to me or my family.

Wow make me really appreciate the country I live in (no offense) I would not be surprised if the cartel did not have a inside man with the dealership to just have a transponder key made. it really suck to have the police the ones who are to protect and serve tell you to just "forget about it" out of fear.
This really blows man. Like another poster said, it's not the first jeep, i think this is the 4th in a few months? I park mine in the garage but are still worried when I leave it out. Dealing with gang's across the border has to be something else, they have no fear of the law and seem to be well connected. Hopefully the heat around the jeep makes them lose interest in your jeep. What does the insurance company say about it? Hopefully you get it back and we will see you out on the trails soon.
