raised the rear lower shock brackets 2", chopped the LCA mounts, and ditched the rear sway bar

Be sure if your not running Metalcloak or synergy progressive springs to use spring retainers. If you have 11.6"+ travel shock,s they will try and unseat.
Very nice job, looks good weld a slider on the bottom and call it a day rock ready....

To anyone who knows, why do the stock shock brackets come from the factory so low? If it isn't very difficult to move them up then why don't the engineers design them with the brackets up higher?

They can't come This way because the shock will bottom out before you hit the bumpstops. You have to run a lift kit to do this as well as appropriate bumpstop lengths.

Exactly. The shock mounts from the factory are set according to the factory suspension characteristics and ride height.

So if I am running a 3" lift with the bump stops from a 2.5" teraflex you think I would be able to cut mine?

Theoretically yes, but you would have to measure the compressed length of the shock to determine how high you can move them up. With the shocks that come in the 3" kit, you will probably only be able to raise them an inch or so.

In your case you'll probably have to run longer bump stops, or shorter shocks. Do a flex test and see how much shock shaft is showing when your bumpstops are fully compressed.
If there is no shock shaft showing, then you cannot relocate the mounts. You'll have to switch to a shorter length shock, or add bumpstop but, then you'll have no travel. Lol
In my case I can't do this because I'm running 12" shocks on my 4" teraflex lift, with 3.5" bumpstops. I would have to go down to 10" travel shocks to move the mounts up 2", which isn't really worth it. I rather a lot of travel over two small mounts sticking out, you can reinforce these with skid plates and your fine. And I play in the rocks a lot.

. I think he would be pretty close to bottoming the shock out with 2.5" bumpstops and 3" lift... If it's the correct length shocks..
