What was done to your JK this week?
There is a factory pre-drilled and tapped hole on both sides that the front bolt goes into. I think it is for a skid plate on 2014 and later Rubicons and or auto transmissions not really sure, it is located on the bottom of each frame rail just in front of the crossmember. Then you use jack stands or a jack to line everything up, and drill holes into the frame. They come with self tapping bolts that you thread into the frame. The bolts and mounts are lined up so that you are drilling into sections where the frame pieces overlap, so you are drilling and tapping into 3 or 4 layers of frame steel. Even just having them bolted up (I have not gotten a chance to get them welded yet) they are very very sturdy.
Thus far I am extremely pleased. I will be taking it out crawling at Canyons Off-road Park near Fredericksburg, TX next weekend, and have no doubt that if they do encounter some rocks there will be no issues. These things are super beefy. The mounting plates are 1/4in steel, and are all gusseted. The round tubing is all DOM (like what they use to make racing roll-cages out of). And everything is welded together really well. They way 48lbs per slider. They took 4 weeks to come in, but were built the way I wanted them (they give you several options when you order them).
It was a close decision between these and a set of Shrockworks, but there were a few things about these that I thought made them better, and they were a little bit cheaper even having them shipped from California.
Happy Jeeping!
