What was done to your JK this week?
Hey Everyone. Have had my 2009 Black Rubicon about a month. Added Teraflex Levelling Kit, Raceline Renegade Wheels, a MyGig, and today I installed my AFE air filter.
The install is pretty easy, but the included pics kind of blow so I took some to help anyone else who does this install with some notes to assist along the way. I will use the "steps" on the included instructions as a guideline for the pics and the notes. I know most of you will probably be able to figure out the things I did, but hopefully the few hints below will save some of you 5 to 15 minutes on the install. The entire thing took me about an hour. If I weren't taking pics, prob, 10 to 15 faster.
Step 1 and 2

Step 3

Step 4 and 5 - After you remove the lid of the OE airbox, the bottom just pulls out. You may have to jiggle and pull as this part nests into the area where you will eventually be putting the bolts to hold the new AFE tray.

Step 6

Step 7 - This step says "with screws provided, tighten down bolts", it doesn't say that you need to use the provided nuts to secure the bolts. It also does not say to use the washers provided, but I am pretty sure this would be the step that you use them.

Step 8 - There is not alot of slack in the wire, so you have to position the intake tube just right. I recommend not tightening down any clamps to tightly until you feel this sensor is sitting in the new tube properly.

Step 9 and 10

Step 11

Completed Install

I have not yet had a chance to go for a ride since the install, so cannot really tell if any improved performance or fuel efficiency. Any questions, post here or send me a PM.

Replaced the soft RC2.2 shocks with some Bilstein 5100s. Firmed up the Jeep so much that it gave about 1/2 inch more lift! Guess the gas charge gives some extra support to the springs
