After 9 years driving a '93 YJ (daily driver) and numerous trips to Moab, I upgraded to a TJ Rubicon in '03 when the Rubi package came out, and still a daily driver, I found the trips in Moab good with the rear seat occupied with my cooler of drinks. Just not enough room. Also, my oldest son now has my '93 YJ and after a LOT of work and modifications to move the rear axle back (ford 8.8 now with spool) and moving the front axle forward to get that much needed wheelbase increase, it wheels great, BUT....still no room for tools, cooler, and extra passengers. Finally in '08 I sold my TJ Rubi and ordered the 4-door JK Rubi. Tons of room now, and it's much more capable than my two previous 2-door rigs. I easily crawl up some of the more difficult obstacles in Pritchet Canyon that the TJ used to struggle with, AND my cooler is properly strapped down behind the rear seat where it belongs. Oh....did I mention it's still my DD ?

I like my 4 door for the beach, plenty of room for fishing gear etc. That being said I will NEVER get rid of my TJ!

4 door for being more versatile for the family and towing
2 door
easy to remove the hard top
easy to remove and fit the soft top
looks better with the top down
easy to park
lighter
less to clean
easy to turn around on our tight 4x4 tracks
costs less to buy.

I'll properly buy the 4 door for being more versatile as my Z4 is for our top down driving.

Default 4 Door, no questions

Unless you have owned a two door and a four door, you will just never know the versatility and capabilities of the four door. I have owned both and would not go back to a two door. I had a two door, trail only rig once, I stretched it's wheel base to make it more capable in the rocks and trails, it's the reason why I bought the four door.

I've had both. If my 4dr died today, I would get another 2dr. To me the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

I love my 2dr. i don't haul people around (right now) and with the back seat removed, i get all the junk i need in it. If i need to haul stuff, people, or tow...i'll get a truck (i will once the JK is paid off probably). The back seat of the 4dr is too small, in my opinion, for adults to really ride comfortably. Seems awkward for car seats and such as well. Still can't tow anything effectively with the lack of power. Just not for me
