Default 2011 Unlimited Water Leaks

A friend of mine who works for Jeep just told me Jeep issued an alert for the unstoppable water leaks in both the Freedom Top and the soft tops. This is not the case for 09 and 10 models. I have a 11 Sahara Unlimited with no leaks but would like to know if anyone with an 11 JKU has had any water issues. I am told Jeep must repair the problem free of charge and this is short of a recall only because there is no safety issue involved.

I have the 2011 JKU and haven't had any problems (Yet). I thought I read somewhere here on the forum that it was the exact opposite. Pre-2011 had the leaks.

Looking forward to more responses.

You are correct. The 07 was notorious for the leaks and since then, Jeep re-designed the tops. However with the 11, they re-designed a bit making a good thing worse. It's not as bad as the 07 problem but again, since this is not a recall, everyone should check for this during the one year warranty. Without an extended warranty, it would not be covered.

Just had my 2010 at dealership for almost a month for this problem so don't think it has to do with the year at all.

we have two 2011 unlimiteds in the family, both hardtops. One since Feb 2011 and the other since May 2011, we live in a very wet and rainy area (the northwest) and we haven't experienced any leaks yet...hoping it stays that way

The passenger side floor board fills with water (under the floor mat) on my 2011 jku. I took it in just a few days ago and the tech said there was a service notice out for this problem. On the repair order they gave me when i picked up the jeep is said that the leak was fixed and that it had passed the water test. I know they glued something with the weatherstriping on the passenger side door but im not sure what else. I didnt get to talk to the tech after it was done. It has not rained in the last 2 days since i picked it up.

On the repair order sheet: Performed RRT11-070 RT front door water leak. Under the notes of what the tech did: 55397484AB seal, 68153263AA Stuffer, 68027813AA Tape kit- Butyl, 4467709 *Glue-glue. Maybe that will help when you go to the dealer.

They said the water test came back ok. I only noticed the water under the floor mat after driving in the rain not after just sitting in the rain. So i dont know how they test for water leaks because it wasnt raining after they did the repairs. I dont believe I could of just soaked the jeep down with a hose and made it leak before the fixes.
