2012 is basically just an interior upgrade
AUOTMATIC. Yea; I'd expect that to feel the exact same around town and such. I'm sure it's the same tranny and torque converter as the 2011s so it'd be just as 'doggy' if that was your impression of a 2011. Should hold highways speeds better though with the extra ponies.
The Manual's however... should feel a lot peppier. I'll know in about a week. My 2012 is sitting on a railcar about 30 miles from my house. Having a noticeable performance gain in general feel seems to be the concensus with the 2012 so I'm not worried.

Essentially you get a Durango INSTEAD OF THE Wrangler... this was passed along to us by a Jeep employee on the aftermarket side - explaining why it would be hard to get an aftermarket power-adder in the Mopar catalog But then again who knows they may have turned down our kit to make it compliant (boring) like the Toyota TRD blowers, hardly worth the $6k for barely 60hp gain.

The results will be that the Pentastar will stomp a mudhole in the old motor. The new motor makes more torque and makes it over a wider ranger than the 3.8. The 3.6 is a lighter motor with 80 more horsepower, add to that lighter engine internals to rev faster and more freely and it's not a competition. It's simple physics. As soon as a magazine gets ahold of one your going to see a couple second knocked off both 0-60 and .25mile acceleration runs as well as big improvements in top gear acceleration.
if stock jeep went up 3000 to 4000 bucks and then you have to spend to modify your talkin a huge differance ( total cost) into a vehicle
im not saying either way is wrong! im saying i guess money isnt the object here obviously , i thought the 2011 prices were over what the jeeps are worth never mind spending 4000 more
2011 sport was enough for my wallet good thing i didnt wait for a obamicon hope the 2012 comes with a greesy burger and fries for that price ! or did they downsize the motor like the fries???

[Um, the perfect customer walks in to a dealership and buys a top of the Sahara with every possible option for full MSRP, an aftermarket warranty, gap insurance, the paint and undercoat protector, dealer option wheels, all under factory financing. I'm buying a bone stock Rubi 2% below invoice with the help of my credit union.

Of course there's going to be a big price gap between the model years. If your looking for a deal wait till spring when the pent up demand for the new motor will subside and $4.00 gas will slow sales.
im not going back to the jeep dealer their all over the place with the 2012 figures Attachment 196728 and im happy with my 2011 sport Attachment 196730

Unfourtantly the 2011 is a dead engine. I highly highly doubt we will ever see a SC application. Now that the 2012 is out, it is pointless for any companies to spend any time developing a system to work on a vehicle that was only sold for 1 year.
The only real hope for a 2011 JK is a HEMI swap.
Holy cow!!!! Today I test drove a top of the line 2012 Rubicon Unlimited Automatic (Yes with a matching top and fender flares). Anyways leather interior and navigation, basically "THE WORKS". Let me tell u this, in town there was ALMOST no difference!!! It shifted a lot but lacked that ummfff that I truly thought this new engine was going to have!!! Yeah when I was on the highway u could feel a bit more power but "it's a jeep" screw the highway!!! My 2010 auto with 5.13's felt the same as the 2012 around town. What a unbelievable disappointment!!! Now if u put larger tires on u r back to the same dogging as before!!!!
Now as to when I did feel a different was when I drive a 2012 2door bone stock and manual. Grant it the jeep had the smallest wheels possible and it was lighter but this was when u could really feel it just wanting to take off an when u did u could hear a different engine. Here is the problem, I want 4door and even though I enjoy manual i have driven it my whole life that now I enjoy auto.
BASICALLY, 4dr auto was a huge disappointment! And the 2dr manual with tinnie tiny none jeep looking wheels felt good.
I leave u with this.......NOTHING!! Once again I really wanted to upgrade to the 2012 but in my opinion not with it!!! I hate saying that cause I was a big fan of it coming out. All I will feel that changed is the interior and to me it's not worth it!
I guess i will be supercharging
All of u that r on the fence with having to pick between a 2011 DEAL or a 2012. I would heavily recommend save the cash and get the 2011 deal. Just regear it cause I WILL have to anyways with the 2012 and/or supercharge it. With the saved cash u can have more HP at the rear wheel with a RIPP supercharge 2011 then with a 3.6L 2012
