Went to shipping this morning! They estimated the ship date of last Friday and it seems they do updates in the morning so it may have actually shipped on Friday. Its good to see them make the date that they estimated. Anybody have any idea of how long it will take to ship to eastern Iowa? Also is there any way to track the shipping process? Can't wait to take delivery and get into my first Jeep!!

Just got a PM from Lighting Guy - looks like insight is showing estimated shipping of 3/14 and estimated delivery of 3/21:

Route Movements Event Date Location
Current
Scheduled for Build (D1) 02/27/2012 06:35 AM CST Toledo Supplier Park, OH
Future
Loaded On Railcar 03/14/2012 01:00 AM CDT Toledo Supplier Park, OH
Railcar - Interchanged 03/17/2012 09:00 PM CDT Salem, IL
Railcar Placed at Destination Facility 03/21/2012 01:00 AM CDT Kirby, TX
Unloaded From Railcar 03/21/2012 11:00 AM CDT Kirby, TX

That would put it 5 days over 2 months if they are actually able to deliver on the 21st.

demint1, just call your dealer. They should have all the relevant dates you need (within a day or two, anyway). Should have available all the shipping/transfer spots and estimated dates as well. My dealer e-mailed me this after my 2nd e-mails (within hours at my request -- which is why I know 2nd email means you are D1 and about 2 weeks away from the actual build):

Not sure why they would have to interchange twice in Chicago over 2 or 3 days, but whatever. Happy being "JAFO" for now knowing I'm "next." I think they start my build tomorrow.

Nice to have some dates, isn't it? I'd be 2 months, 16 days if my date is accurate (that includes a leap year day, BTW :-). So just over 11 weeks.

Need to verify with some Jeep friends that they'll be free that weekend. We've got a whole lot of wrenching to do and not a lot of time to get it done on the swap. The 35's will make the AEV lift a major priority (and reminds me that I need a new sawzall blade for the pinch seam cut).

Can't wait!

I had Lighting Guy check mine too, and apparently I am close enough to the factory for a truck only shipment. No rail car needed, it left the factory around 6 pm on 2/27 and is scheduled for delivery at 4 am on 2/28... yeah that's in 3.5 hours! I ordered on 1/7 so it will be approximately 7.5 weeks for delivery.

It's better that way, NO rail dust. I had it on mine when I got it, stone white plus rail dust equals orange rusty metal flakes on a new Jk.

That is some SWEET news! Post pics when you can. Just a thought, but they can't really bust you for taking a vehicle at 4am if your name is already on the window sticker, can they? Just show up again when they open. :-)

I'm about 2-1/2 weeks away, and haven't been this excited since I won my second foreign lottery. (Must have typo'd my social security number the first time.)

It's super awesome to finally have some kind of dates in mind (even though they might not be accurate).

Get some pics up (or start a thread on your build) when yours comes in!

Thanks, MortuaR. I can tell you that I'm not likely to have a build thread. Mine will be swapped over in a matter of hours/days. Due to time, and that most of my mods have been covered in write-ups already, I don't plan to do a write-up. I'm going from a 2 door X with 35's, 2.5" Teraflex coil, 4.88's, ARB's, RCV's, sleeves and gussets, custom rear seat, etc., and am leaving the gears, lockers, lift, sway bar e-disco, custom rear seat, and other minor stuff on it in the trade.

What the new 2012 will have within hours/day or two, is the 35" KM2's on AEV 3.5" SC lift, new front drive shaft, aFe exhaust mod (for lifted 2012's), PureJeep front bumper with stinger, XRC8 comp winch, PureJeep rear bumper, OR-Fab tire carrier and vacuum pump relocate, ARB high output compressor on EVO mount, 2 sets of KC lights, MC grab handles front and rear, Cobra 75 CB on Teraflex antenna mount, Delta? lug nut 3rd brake lights, tail light guards, Quadratec floor liners (full set), Mopar plastic door sill guards, shrockworks rails and a soft top ( both arriving reasonably soon), and sleeves, gussets, RCV's, and diff covers to be done shortly after I get these other "basics" taken care of.

Plenty of people have these builds already taken care of and written about. So should you want to see details, send me a PM with your email. Happy to send it, but a few aren't conducive to this forum. I'm sure I'm missing some as well, but that summarizes the majors I know of plus some parts I'm tripping over in my home office.

As an aside, I originally planned to swap everything to a bare bones X, but when I looked into it, was shocked to find out that I'm darn close money wise to take the Rubicon (when full warranty is considered). Always thought if I went to a 4 door I'd just buy a used JK unlimited as basic as they come. But when I crunched some numbers (I do that for a living), some minor things like power windows and such added, I found that it was pretty silly not to just buy the new Rubicon and take the extra cash on my "near Rubicon." Granted, cost a few bucks, but all in all, seemed a no brainer when I totaled it all up. For about $5k more, as I figured it, I got all I'd want from any unlimited (of any year), but brand new and gained full warranty and some features that would more than keep value (plan to keep this indefinitely though -- like I thought on the 2 door until my wife said a second kid is on the way).

So no build thread, but if you care for details past what I listed, just PM me your email address.

WooHoo!! My jeep just hit the paint stage. Ordered it on January 3rd. Dealer told me to expect it at their lot second to third week of March, that was a few weeks ago. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
