2012 MPGs...???
that weigh 62 lbs dry weight will be worse mpg than 34 inch trail grapplers x5 that weigh 80lbs dry weight and add wheels @ 20lbs eachx5 added to the equasion will make me see better gas mileage
when someone shows me this on the chart such as you describe ill
concider it !!
till then i say there full of crudrapola since when does adding 100 lbs ever bring higher milage and adding a lift on that to get them on there vs my 285s ??
im convinced my 33s or 285s or 32s are gonna win at the pump
and i wont loose warrenty by adding a lift to boot ! im getting 18mpg and on highway better some times with my 4.10s what could i expect with 34s 22 mpg i dont think so !!Attachment 272403
you may hear 37s will even get you 25mpg do you believe that ?
we should be all buying 40s soon! and then your motor quits ohh no just add a super charger that will make you go faster with 37s lol youl get 15,000 miles on your 35,000 investment and pow ! guess i better get a new motor !!

You are claiming you can't better mpg out of bigger tires when you are in fact running bigger tires than stock, probably way you are getting mpg. In no way and I saying that 37's will get you 25mpg. But with the new trans & 4.10 gears 33's and 35's probably will.
Look at this chart: Stock 32's in the blue..Less mpg 33's & 35's in the green..Better mpg
jeepmojo, I'd like to try and explain this to you.
Let's say your Jeep has 32" stock tires. If you swap out your tires for 25" tires will it get better or worse mileage?
It will get worse, why, because now you're turning too many rpm at highway speed compared to your 32s. Even though the 25" tires are lighter and narrower, the mileage has dropped because you're out of the efficiency range of the complete package.
This is part of the issue with the '12 Rubicons with 4.10 ratio. It has too small of a tire on it and revs too high at highway speed. Increasing the tire size will drop the RPMs back into the efficiency range and therefore return better mileage.
Now there are limitations to this concept but it has been show that small increases in diameter on these new Rubicons actually help them.
Now as far as you having the same 32" tall tires but wider getting better mileage may be due to the tread pattern or the difference in your terrain vs his.

keep in mind my transmission is nothing new ! i run a manual so putting the shift points where ever you like ! 3.6 motor will have less wear on it with 33s than 35s in my opinion for someone who intends on keeping theres as a dd ! go ahead put your 37s on but ask around what these guys do with them ! they are built for 80% off road use if not more than as dd worried about gas milage and repair work i dont run mine at 70 either i find 60 gets me decent milage and not high rpms as well manual trans would also change the senerio

thanks i was begining to think i was maybe going to deep with my thoughts ! i just know what happend with my older truck and stuff when i jacked it and 35s and low gears and this and that before i knew it i was getting about 8mpg every one loved my truck but i only heard it when i was at the gas station where i spent most of my time !Attachment 272494
all im saying is a 22 bullet will poke a hole in ya the same as a 50 cal and either way you bleed out so why buy 50 cal bullets they just cost more !

I really don't know about that. From what I've gathered here, there are just too many inconsistencies with the JK. Hell it seems like you could have two of the exact same jeep and there would be a difference in mileage. From what I've read over the years my 2dr jk auto is getting better mileage than a lot of manuals. If I go easy on the pedal, in the summer I will get a minimum of 300 miles on a tank. And up to 350 at times. I have 33s, aftermarket wheels, CAI, and Flashpaq. I really think they just built this engine with too many variances...
Thanks. Be sure to post your mpg up when you get the new Rubicon.
