Bad news nr. 1

Well I live in Greece, Europe and have a friend working for Chrysler. The news are that max for 09 the JK CRD will get a Euro 5 emissions grade by keeping the same engine. Current 2.8 CRD engine is a Euro 4. I really do not know what are the standards for th US.

Bad news nr. 2

Just to tell ya all how lucky you are..... the CRD 2.8 2dr A/T and H/T costs 43,000 EUROS that is on current exchange rates USD 62,350
and the 3.8 2dr A/T and H/T is at USD 59,740

and still Jeep sells a lot...

I'm going to try to contact Burnsville Offroad and see if they know. They've pulled a ton of the 3.8s to do Hemi swaps on them.

If they are planning a diesel...I hope they will slam a Cummin's Turbo Diesel! A 5.9L inline 6 would be nice.....but the 5.9L weight would be a wee little much on the front end!

The endless possiblities of power output with the 5.9L..... I can just see it.....

DREAMWORLD NOW....... JK with a 5.9L CTD....Edge Juice with hotshot upload & another stackable programmer power chip, propane injection, bigger injectors, bigger turbo & big exhaust.....Endless clouds of black smoke when you get on the go pedal ......PRICELESS!

.....I got to stop dreaming here and come back to the real world!

Bummer.... Just heard back from Burnsville. They haven't weighed one yet. Oh well. I don't imagine they actually have a reason to. Can't blame them for that.

The old 5.9L Cummins doesn't meet the new emission standards, that is why the 6.7L is now used in Dodge trucks. Since the new Ram 1500 will be getting a diesel for the 2010 model year and it won't be an inline 6, the Wrangler wouldn't get an inline 6.

I realize the 6.7L was placed in the 2500/3500 ram to met 2010 emissions. The drawback for me in the 6.7L is the power/peformance powerchips on the market don't get the same insane power gains like the 5.9L inline. This may change in the next few months. From what I have been hearing he reason is all the emission junk that has been placed on the 6.7L.

The Ram 1500 I believe they will offer both, the 4.2L V6 and a lighter duty 5.6L V8 Cummins Turbo Diesel.

I don't know if offering two diesel would make sense. They would have 2 low volume engines, making them more expensive. If they do offer both, then the 5.6L should be used in other applications such as the Durango/Grand Cherokee and Commander. While the 4.2L could be used in the Wrangler and Dakota.

Once you have driven a diesel off road you will never want to go back to the gas....
x2. We love our CRD Grand and JK. Would love to have that engine in my Rubi.
