I guess if they really wanted to, they could look at the build sheet and see what your JK came with...but I wouldn't see why they would do that unless they've got a good reason to.

My Sahara Unlimited with 4.10 will pull away in second, first is almost too low.

Actually yesterday I pulled away in forth, but then again I was in 4Lo

Swapping out gears and just throwing a beefed up cover on probably wouldn't hurt and I agree that the dealer mechs probably would never know as nothing happens that would warrent them to open up the diff for service, even then I would wonder if they could tell just by looking at them.

No, you can't tell from the outside if the gears have been changed. Unless you take it in for rear end noise or another problem with the rear or front ends. The tech's aren't out to get ya, they like to get paid just like everybody else. They are not going to be snooping around your veh looking to see what you did to it, bec they aren't getting paid for it and have better things to do. They won't open your diff cover to see what's in there unless you request it or have a problem with it. Just don't tell the service writer! So go ahead and change those gears

Won't the gearing switch mess with the speedo readings?

It will, but I would just get the Pro Comp gear and speedo adjuster. Well, I am starting to enjoy the 3.73 Unlimited a little more, it is pulling harder through the gears, but still lack a little on the 6th gear passing, not a huge deal. I think once I get up to a 1,000 miles, I probably wont even remember how the 2 dr wit 4.10's drove.

No, but if you were to break the r&P and they repaired it under warranty, they may put a 3.73 in there.

That would suck. Spend the money to upgrade, get it warrentied and end up where you started at in the begining. I guess thats better than them not do the warranty work at all.

lets hope you wouldn't let them put the 3.73 back in there. first time you threw it in 4wd, you would tear the crap out of a whole bunch of your drivetrain, and they really wouldn't cover that mess.
