Default 87,000 2010 Model Jeep RECALLED

Who is gonna be involved in this. The recall is limited to Wranglers equipped with automatic transmissions built during the 2010 model-year. Vehicles produced before July 14, 2010. Due to risk of fire.

Probably mine. Wonder if it's serious enough that they'll call me or just repair on my next service appt. Maybe I can just trade up to a 2012

There have been a few people on this forum over the years (2008 +) that have had their Wranglers catch fire and totaled their Jeeps. If you search you will find a few examples.

Anyhow, no resolution was ever really given from Jeep. Bout damn time they started doing something about it. Too bad it took national groups getting involved to make is happen.

Bottom Line - Jeep recalls 87,000 Wranglers over fire risk

On another note, I love how MSNBC used a picture of one of the burliest concept Jeeps vs. an actual production Wrangler.

Anyone have a picture of what this bar looks like as opposed to the skid that is there?

Wonder what the price difference is in materials? I know my window sticker says I paid for the skid. They going to refund the difference?

2010's came with the skid, thus the issue. If you have a 2010, you should have the skid.

It looks like a second crossmember. It doesn't really cover anything, rather it is supposed to offer protection against an obstruction banging the transmission. It could easily be caught on a rock / limb, to be honest...

I should have snapped a photo when I was out in my garage earlier. Damn it.
