Parts from home depot...cost a grand total of $6 and took me about 45min

I drilled two 1/2 holes through the roll bar, installed 5" bolts through the roll bar then bolted it down tight, cut two small holes in the roll bar cover, then mounted the jack. This is a sweet and very sturdy mount, doesn't rattle or come loose, plus it's high enough it's out of the way and easy to remove or replace when you need it
I was thinking the same thing about the roll bar, and if you are carrying a bunch of supplies it would become a chore to get at, or just difficult. I'm not sold on putting them inside.

The hood mounts look cool and out of the way but how secure/safe are they? If it were to come out of the mount it could ruin your whole day!

The whole mount would have to break. You can see everything without a problem all the time. I check mine every couple weeks. No movement at all.

Thanks, I really like the look of the hood mount, plus I think it would be more conspicuous if someone were trying to steal jack off of hood vs off the back bumper...

I just slide my hilift under the rear seat of my JKUR, along with a shovel and lots of other recovery gear. This uses space that otherwise is wasted, keeps the weight low to the ground, and protects the jack from the elements. I also carry a couple of trash bags to contain all this if it gets muddy.

It's all just loose? I have pretty much everything strapped down...

The seat mounts prevent the jack and shovel from sliding forward. I have to remove them from the side, through an open door. So they are not going to flop around in an accident. Everything is crammed in pretty tight so I don't get any rattles.
