I'm still going to give the trek top a shot, when i get the cash.

I think people set the expectations to high with this top... No offense to anyone. How many of the owners have owned a jeep in the past and has ran the supertop from bestop on it. Seems more than one person didnt even have the top installed properly in the first place.

I've had a supertop on my YJ and now TJ. While the fitment isnt exact, for the money you cant go wrong. Soft doors on my TJ and YJ both had to be bent into form. I never thought twice about it. I really never expected them to be water tight either.

just my opinion.

If and when you do let us know. I know that basing my decision on what two people have said is not giving it a full chance because sooner or later more people will get them and they might like them. However these guys were the first that I know of to get them and both have had so similar an experience with it they could have wrote each others post. Maybe they will make some changes and it will be better or maybe there is something missing in the instructions that when added makes it all come together and work perfectly but then maybe they are right and this is a disapointment. Me I am going to wait (I was anyway) and see what others have to say but given my personal experience with a Bestop product it does not bode well.

You know... I think there is a bit of truth to this. I am kind of in the same boat with my element doors. Sure, they are far from perfect and are nowhere near the quality of the OEM half doors, but they have been good enough that my full doors haven't left the garage since I received my uppers two weeks ago. I have had to bend, twist, adjust, and re-adjust the dang things, but at this point they do a fair job of keeping me dry when it is raining. Considering I have $1400 in the full set of four doors, enclosures, and uppers I really can't complain too loud. If I wanted the quality of the factory half doors, I should have just shelled out the $7600.

I'm not saying that the products haven't had some problems, especially for those of us who chose to be early adopters. However, that is the price we pay to get something when it first comes out. My previous Jeep was a KJ CRD and while I loved the power and economy of the diesel, I ended up with transmission problems four times (three valve bodies, and a complete overhaul). I knew it was an early release and was tolerant of the problems up until the point that I couldn't stand it any more, and then I got the JK. I still miss the power of the CRD, but I couldn't be happier with the rest of my decision!

Bottom line - Pretty much all vendors have had some level of problems with their "early" releases of products for the JK. As much as I hate to admit it, we almost have to expect that will be the cost of early adoption. (Not that a product released after two years is really early, but that is an entirely different complaint... )

I wonder if silicone spray will help keep the water out, and maybe the problems are just with the Unlimited model not the 2 dr?

Well the top and soft doors have arrived at the house, But I wont be there for about 19 more days. As soon as I install it i will post pics and let you guys know. I hate that some are haveing troubles with the top. I really love the look of this top. I am not looking for a watertight fit or a no flaping top. I would just like something to throw on during rainy spells. Hopefully I wont be returning mine like the rest of the guys, but who knows

Dude that's going to be a long 19+ days for some of us waiting to hear how it works out. Your setup is exactly what I had planned to do. The trouble with the top has me looking at what my other options are though.
