It does not have a lot of room for gear + passengers and the gas mileage is horrible.
Actually Survivalcache.com (which is a well respected site for all different type of survival information) listed a JK in their top 5 BOV due to its versatility, toughness and aftermarket accessories that expand its carrying capabilities. The only down side they had with it was the gas mileage, but quickly stated the jeeps ability to carry additional fuel cans.

Don't forget, we can all create fuel caches!

I seen a show on tv about this bug out stuff. Man people really start taking this too seriously. What happens when you spend all this money on stuff and nothing happens. On the show, There was a couple who made a whole fort outta C containers 2 stories high. They had enough food supply to feed 12 people for 3 years. Must be at least 15K in food. They have a bug out vehicle hidden in a secret spot that no one can get to miles from where there staying. Weapons because people will want what they have. Gas masks, suits for bio hazrds, gallons after gallons of water. I mean its cool and all, but is it worth all the time and money if something dont happen? One guy even had a fish resivor in his swimming pool, another built and waterproof underground tunnel big enough to house 10 people and all their food and needs.

IMO, Id rather spend my time and money on living for the moment instead of worrying about the future! But when A massive earthquake hits, we all got a plus cuz we will crawl our jeeps out! haha

Check the Zombie Squad forums,.....lots of relevant BOV ideas over there.

Unfortunately, TV shows pertaining to "prepping" and "survival" are usually skewed in a way that makes it seem more of a whack-job way of thinking and acting.

It's not about the "zombie apocolypse", it's merely about taking the time to minimize the damage/loss/impact associated when an emergency situation occurs.

There are a great number of people who saved thier own properties/possessions/freinds/family when Katrina hit down south becuase they had taken the time to prep accordingly. Prepping can be as easy a putting a first aid kit in your Jeep, but it can be taken to the extreme of building a self sufficient fallout bunker too.

FEMA and the American Red Cross, and tons of other official entities endorse and educate on "prepping". Emergency preparedness is a very powerful tool.

Im not bashing or nothing. I really think its cool. I dont know I guess its just overwhelming to think about stuff like that. But you guys are right. I am very into things like this. Like the Volcano in Wyoming!!! If that goes, witch its already past due to erupt we(colorado) is doomed... So I am a believer that these things can happen.

But you guys should really watch the show I was talking about.. Its cool, and they actually give them a test and grade them on if they will live or not. Its just some of these people on this show I think ruin it or make bug out people look dumb. But some are really well prepared as well!

Here it is. This is the one with the guys fish in his swimming pool.

There are a lot of people who are preparing for when the shit hits the fan. There will be no zombie horde, but there is a very real possibility of governments collapsing due to massive debt.
I think it is a good idea to have a bugout bag for a few different situations. Natural disaster, conflict, government collapse, and others.

True. Our jeeps with large tires, lifts, cargo racks, fuel containers etc, already draw a crowd but I see your point
