Question Building Your Jeep Through The Dealership

I am requesting the knowledge of those who have built or know about building a vehicle through the dealer.

I am interested in building a 'Rubicon' capable exterior, yet 'Sport' interior. Esentially, I want the capability and brute of the Rubicon package with the utilitarian interior of the Sport.

I want the D44's, lockers, suspension, wheels and tires, hardtop, etc. that follow the Rubicon package. Meanwhile, I like the simplicity of the Sport package, roll up windows, manual door locks, no navigation, no premium sound, cloth seats, even down to the shift knob, I prefer the black vinyl rather than the chrome bits.

I have used the Jeep Website to 'Build & Price.' Obviously, that is a very limited resource.

So my question is, can I go to the dealer, sit down and build piece by piece, a package that I have described?

If so, when you do build a vehicle in that manor, is there still room for haggling? I feel like with a 'custom' build, there's no option to haggle. Is this the case? Can I haggle just as if the vehicle was physically in the lot?

Build and price is not limited at all... The dealer has no other ordering options than what you see on that site. As far as price: There its no reason you should pay more than invoice on an order.

You can probably order a stripped down version of the Rubicon for less than having the dealership build you one.

Default i orderd a base rubicon 2 dr.

it has man shift 6 spd, man .windows ,no power locks, but all the rubicon things such as the 410 gearing the e disconnect,
the low transfer gear. the wheels and tires , only thing I added was black tint rear windows on my soft top and a engine block heater for 35 bucks from factory . just go that route sit down with your sales man and hash it out
a base rubicon is 29.995 add in your options and then title fees and stuff and you go from there you may be around 33,000 with hard top and stuff but you get it the way you want it and you may have to wait the 6 weeks as we do ! order it !! good luck it only hurts after you sighn the dotted line Attachment 407241 as far as the shift knob you just wrap it yourself and cover the chrome ugly one ! lol who the f#$^ would like the chrome one ! chrome don't get you home lol

Default Ive tried the same thing...

When i was building my jeep, i wanted a Rubicon, but wanted the price of the Sport. found out NOT POSSIBLE! I made my jeep as basic as i could, and am regretting it everyday. Yes its still super nice, but wish i had splurged for the extra options.
The only way you can accomplish what you are looking to do is doing what they call a Rubiclone. Meaning, you buy a sport and spend the extra money to put the D44's and everything else you like about the rubicon. There are pros and cons to each. I chose to do the Rubicon just for the fact, as i was adding all the extras id put on the sport up, the $$ came out to be more than i'd spend on a Rubicon.
As far as "HAGGLING" You can talk to dealers about price, but most of them will try and keep it 500 up of invoice! Still a good deal.
Most of the time, you can usually find exactly what you are looking for on a dealer locate, but if you want to feel like its all yours and it was built just for you, go a head and order one, hey you get to see your name on the window sticker and emails of when its going to be built and what not!

My fathers rubicon is a basic model with manual door locks and windows, basic radio, cloth interior, etc. It was just on the lot, so they do exist.

If you want a 4 door I'd highly suggest getting power windows and door locks because the back doors don't take a key from the outside.. so you need to unlock the front then reach around and unlock the back doors from inside..

The dealer DOES have different packages you can build. I thinks it's something like the 23s vs. the 24s package, it's basically power convenience group (doors, locks, ect.). The website automatically puts the 24s on your build when you do it online. You CAN have a bare bones Rubicon built and if you use your TreadLightly discount you'll get it 1% below invoice.

I ended up with $4k off my MRSP and had it built my way. Don't forget to choose 4.10 gears, Rubicon's now come with 3.73's unless you specify it. Good luck!

Would you happen to know the customer package code for you Jeep? This is exactly what I'm looking for... I can handle the wait if it's the package I truly want! I know it's neither 23R, nor 24R. 23R refers to manual trans. and 24R, automatic (as far as I can tell). The very basic 23R that I have found using the 'Build and Price' function and then following that by a dealer search, no minimum distance chosen for full potential to find the most stripped/ basic package, still leads to the 23 and 24 package which I am convinced automatically come with the power convenience group. I have to assume there are other package options that refer to a more basic package. Maybe you still have your window sticker?

Obviously you're not getting a Rubicon for a Sport price. Not what I meant, at all. I just want a stripped down version.

Like I mentioned before, I believe the 23 and 24 packages refer to the manual and automatic possibilities. I checked out NADA and when you put together the Rubicon on their site, they refer to the 23 and 24 packages as 'quick order' which leads me to believe there is the option to order a modified package.

Again, thank you all for your time and input!

I think the only way possible might be to go half doors. This will give you manual windows and locks. 23R is Manual and 24R is Auto and I believe they are the only 2 package options on the 2013 Rubicon's... Good luck!
