The hold up is that they are only building 10 to 20 of these a day. There are over 10,000 orders in the system.

It is not ture that they update the computers on Monday and Friday only. They update on a regular basis. Even multiple times per day. Everything is automated, not like some poor guy is entereing in all the production status codes. When the vehicle gets to a certain part of production they scan it and the computer updates.

On cars like the PT Cruiser I have seen them go from BA (Fresh Order) to BX to D status within a couple hours.

Here are the facts about current orders or orders that you are about to submit.

If you have an order which is in D status or further along in the process then your dealer should have an idea of when your vehicle will arrive.

If your vehicle is in anything before D status (includes BA, BG, and BX) then the following applies to you and is the same for every dealer in the nation. No dealer can get by the following:

WRANGLER
(JKTM74)(w24C) Wrangler Unlimited X 4x2 4 DR Sched. Out Nov.
( J KJL72)( w/ 23 B & 24 B) Wrangler X 4x4 2 DR Sched. Out Nov.
(JKJM74)(All Packages) Wrangler Unlimited X 4x4 4 DR Sched. Out Nov.
(JKJP74)(All Packages) Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4x4 4 DR Sched. Out Nov.
(JKJS74)(All Packages) Wr angler Unlimited Rubicon 4x4 4 DR Sched. Out Nov.

“Sched. Out November” means that if you have any of the above ordered then your dealer will not even have a possible allocation of your vehicle until the December allocation is issued. That means that the next possible build date you will have is for December Build. December build should start in the last quarter of November.

Chrysler does not give priority to sold orders other than building them first for a dealer. They do not get put ahead of other dealers orders. Some might think this is not fair, but it is. Each dealer gets a certain amount of allocation based on previous sales. This gives each dealer the appropriate amount of vehicles based on sales history.

If the factory did just build any sold order ahead of other for-stock units, what would stop me from just putting a bunch of names on every order and then getting a ton of Wranglers built why every other dealer just had to wait? That is why each dealer is allocated a certain amount, and that allocation covers sold orders as well.

It is very important to discuss this with the dealer when ordering a vehicle. Asking questions about their allocation in past months, what they expect their allocation to be, and how many other sold orders are in their pipeline are very important.

A little bit more on allocation:

Allocation comes out on each Monday 4 times a month. So if there is 5 weeks then the 5th week is skipped. Allocation is issued by quarter for the following month of build dates. So allocation that I receive this coming Monday (October 23rd) will be for the 4th quarter build dates of November.

We get allocation for both 2 door Wranglers and 4 Door Wranglers. Last week I received an allocation for 2 of the 4-door and 5 of the 2-door. That means that I was able to get 2 of the Unlimited’s scheduled based on the regulations listed above. The mix can very week to week for many reasons.

Allocation priority is given to sold orders for each dealership and will usually get built quicker, but they will not be placed in a priority position above any other dealership.

One last rant:

I see a ton of people posting that they placed an order for a Wrangler with MyGig or a 4-Door Unlimited with Half Doors. Both of these options are not yet available for order. Again, both for these options are not yet available for order. That means that your dealer could not possibly have an order in the system for you. If they have taken an order from you they did nothing more than write that order down on paper and are waiting for these 2 options to become available.

Job 1 for MyGig is Dec 18th. That means it should open up in the order system around the 2nd to 3rd week in November (possibly later)

Job 1 for Unlimited Half Doors is Jan 31st. That means it should open up in the order system around the last week in December or 1st week of January.

A note about 4 Door Rubicon's:

Here is the story... When orders originally opened up for the 4 Door Wrangler a ton of Rubicon orders were entered into the system. Many were built, but there was a problem with some of the originally planned parts. First issue was with the Sway bar Disconnect system, which was sucking in water and they had to replace a seal in all of them. Second was a problem with balancing the tires, which they are still dealing with. Because of these 2 things all Rubicon models that had been built were shipped to a storage facility to have these alterations done.

Another problem that was created by this is a huge amount of ordered and scheduled Rubicon Unlimited's that were now being delayed. These vehicles were made up of the first vehicles placed in the order system. So if you were not at the dealer the week that orders opened up then you most likely do not have anything beyond BX status at this point. I have not heard of anyone getting a Rubicon allocated to beyond the first couple of weeks in which orders were placed. This would mean that they are attempting to catch up to all the orders they originally scheduled. That is also why they have shown the Rubicon as being "Built Out" for over 6 weeks now.

I had 7 Rubicon Unlimited's which were to be built at the head of the line for companies taking them to SEMA and those showed up 6 weeks later than originally thought by the factory and reps. Since those initial orders, the Rubicon 4 door models have been listed as Built Out by the factory. This means that no dealer is able to get any built. Hopefully things change and they being allocating them again for December build dates.

I currently have 4 sold Rubicon orders in the system and another 14 stock unit orders. Once the factory changes the status of the Rubicon Unlimited so that they being allocating them again, then sold orders will begin being scheduled. After a dealer has had sold orders scheduled then they will begin allocating the stock orders.

So the story goes that unless you had your order in the first week that they were allocating 4 doors, and it was actually placed in D status at that time, then you will unfortunately be waiting until the factory begins allocating them again.

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. I will answer them with the strait facts.

Does this include the 2 Door Rubicons? I placed my order for a two-door Rubicon 9-22. It was the first 2-Door that my Dealership ordered as sold. I went to D status around October 4th, and D-1 Status around 10-16. In you estimation, should I expect it in November or December or later? The reason I am asking, other than sheer excitement, is that their is someone perhaps more excited than I am. My 16 year old niece gets my Saturn L200 as soon as my Jeep comes. Thanks!

As mentioned above I was only referring to 4-door models. I have received 3 Rubicon 2-door models in the last couple days, with more on the way.

If all goes smoothly with yours figure 5-6 days for build, 2-3 days to the transport facility, and another 5-10 days for delivery to dealership. For So Cal it is usually 4-5 weeks from D1 status, but there are those that take a little longer.

If you contact your dealer they should now be able to give you an expected ship date which they would find in DealerConnect.

I ordered mine (2 Dr Rubicon) on 9-20, and it went D status on 10-3 and has been sitting there ever since. I hope the fact that Phishjeep went D1 on 10-16, that mine should change soon too.

Jeff/Don-A-Vee,

First of all, thanks for all the "inside" info - if there wasn't such a backlog, I would have got my JK from you guys.

My Rubicon Unlimited has been in "D" status since September, I checked today and they told me it's in "D-1" status.

Any idea what I can expect for a delivery date?

Thanks again...

I checked the status of my order this morning which was originally placed on Sept 28th, then reordered due to color change to Rescue Green on October 10th. I was told they don't even have a code for me yet as it is on a "Materials Restriction." What in the world does THAT mean?? I don't mind the wait, because I'm hoping they make more changes on the assembly line, and improve the painting before mine goes into production!

Thanks,

Tom
