I originally ordered my Rubicon with dual tops, then about the first week of December I changed the order to soft top only. I was in BG status so it didn't change my place in line.

Nothing has changed with my order, three weeks later I was still on hold. I don't regret the change regardless, I plan on getting the hardtop from Best Top.

Anyway, I don't think the hard top is necessarily the issue with the hold-ups. If that was the case then you'd think mine might have moved up.

The hard top could be holding your order up. I did have a customer that we changed to soft top and they did move to D status. On the other hand, I did have a couple of hard tops move to D status.

One thing about the hard top as an add-on is the cost will be much higher. Plus there is extra shipping on it.

Has someone heard something about a hard top from Bestop? I heard there would be no such thing for quite a while.

In regards to the deposit...it is up to the dealer. They can cash it or hold onto it.

Eddie said he actually saw the top on a JK and thought it was nicely done. They have already put in an additional liner for sound and heat insulation.

I misread your post at first, I thought you said they would not be producing it. I see you actually typed "...for quite a while."

Actually I figured I wouldn't be ordering until the end of summer anyway. By the time my Jeep finally gets to me it will almost be "topless" season anyway. I'll just run with the soft top for now and then put their hard top on for next winter.

Did not know one existed. Maybe I should order 4-5 of them and stick them on the soft top equipped models I have sitting on the lot. Not that they are lasting that long on the lot, but would add to the appeal.

Haha, that would be very cool. I don't suppose you have a Rescue Green Unlimited Rubi just hanging around do you?

If you do order could you let us know what you find out on estimated delivery? Like I said, I don't plan on getting one right away but I'd still be interested in knowing how long they estimate.

Thanks,
Beel

P.S. As a side note, as well as not waiting for the Freedom top my order is as bare bones as it gets. The only option I have is the two package. I don't know what this means but to me it implies the hold-up is Rubicon specific, not accessories specific. Or maybe a combination of both.

Oh yeah, the Bestop Hard Tops exist and are really quite nice. As mentioned, they come lined, have cubby's and all kinds of options available. The only thing they don't have is the 2 piece removable panels - it is just a one piece.

Hey! Thanks for the pictures Eddie!

Actually the single front piece is one of the things that appealed to me. I know the split front gives you more options but both my wife and I figured we'd either have them both on, or both off anyway.

I figure the single front piece will avoid any leaking issues in the seam or wind noise. I'm sure they will get the Freedom top leak worked out and Yellowjeeper85 quite possibly has the do-it-yourself fix figured out. I just think the added features make it worth getting the after-market top.

Someone in another thread commented about the lack of cubby space. This looks like it will give us some places for glasses and such.

Beel

(Now back to your regularly scheduled thread topic. Sorry for the hi-jack.)

It could be dealer specific. Not many dealers had allocated JK's in January. But it could also be the Rubicon thing. I had some Rubi's picked up in January, but also missed some of my allocation due to not having any X models in the order system.

So because you didn't opt for any X models you lose some of your allocations this month? That would be frustrating.

And yes, I ordered a TOW package not a "two package".

ok so going to D status means that you made allocation adn usualy it's for that months build or the next months build dates right ?? do you have (jeff) have any idea of how DC decides what orders go from D to D1 ? I just don't under stand why my order has just been sitting in D since the beg of Oct and has't moved to D1 when orders like eddie's has moved from D to D1 withen a couple weeks. I just dont' understand how DC dose things.....
