x2 on the credit union.

I just financed my 2008 Unlimited Rubicon for 60 months at 4.95% - payments for $28k are ~475/month. I got the Rubi for $32k out the door (incl 3% state sales tax and tag).

Credit unions are indeed a more viable option than dealer financing. Also, see if you can check the Costco Auto Buying program (assuming you have a Costco membership). They will generally get you one of the lowest prices on the vehicle, with no haggling (this still doesn't answer the financing issue, but may save you some money in any case).

I'll try the credit union idea. If I can get a payment for the same or less then what I am paying now (and own it) I would buy it. I'll go this week and check it out, I'll keep you posted as to what happens.
I feel like I'm on a mission here!

Default Buy or Lease

My 2008 Rubicon Unlimited Red Rock, with everything except block heater has been shipped and I should receive it next week, I ordered it Aug.23rd!

The dealer is selling it to me for $500 over Invoice.Total will be $32500.

They will lease it at the same price $32,500 Here's the figure with nothing down......

36 Months $540.82
End of lease I will buy it for $23,258 or less, depending on how much I put down at lease inseption.

I could buy it without any financing, but as a Realtor its better to lease..I'll probably lease but Ill put a chunk of money down so the payment is low..

BEWARE, If you lease, be sure that the dealer doesnt give you the MSRP on the lease and the $500 over on the Invoice..

Even though I'll probable lease I'll still do the Lift, Etc.etc..

Good Luck,

What ever you do, dont rush into it....get all the facts so you can make an informed decision....

Here are the interest rates at my credit union:

New Vehicle
up to 36 mos. 3.50%
37 to 72 mos. 5.00%
73 to 84 mos. 6.50%
85 to 96 mos. 7.00%

For an example: $24K at 5% for 72 months = $387/mo and you own it!

Stop looking at this imaginary "ultra-base" Wrangler. Go to the edmunds.com, build the JK with the options you want, and get the invoice price.

Bottom Line: Get your own financing at a Credit Union and pay invoice -- there are dealers in Central Florida that will work with you. I got my "theoretically much more desirable" Rubi JK at invoice. Sounds like the dealers you are visiting are trying to take advantage of you. To turn the tables you need to spend some time doing more research. Figure out the deal you want and see who will do it. We've got a lot of Jeep dealers around here.

The easy thing with the CU is that wherever you go you are a cash buyer. You are shopping the price not the payment. You have much less room to get screwed.

It takes the focus to the real peritnent number, the price!

NEWS FLASH: Fed cut rates 0.75% today! Expect this to trickle down to vehicle financing soon! It's a good time to finance a JK!

Just wait till it rains .
I didnt see any post of jeepers taking advantage of the 3 year interest free from Chrysler.

I did, I ordered a yellow 2dr. Rubi December 20th on the FFP.

Heard a lot of discussion around 0% not being eligable unless you took delivery before January 2nd so I called Chrysler incentive department and confirmed ordered vehicles were included. Was still skeptical so dealer put it in writting.

Recieved a Vin# this week but stated it was on hold due to My-Gigg updates.
Really looking forward to this Jeep
