I said "may aid in making them liable for damages"...
didnt say it was an ironclad defense as I did not attend Harvard or Yale.
but thanks for the well wishes.

The City and contracted tow companies are, however, liable for PROPERLY removing your vehicle. Unfortunately around here, they often do not properly tow.

Two wrongs don't make a right, and with all of the parking rules in boston, it's not hard to "illegally" park:

I.E. Street cleaning on this day of this month, on this side of the street... Or Snow emergencies (There's no way to know of a snow emergency if you're a non-resident)... or downed "no parking signs" (thanks to delinquents loving the look of rusty metal signs in their rooms).... or, here's the best: Boston gives you a 2 hour notice if a street is going to be closed for parking, if a dumpster is brought in, or a moving truck, or something of that nature....

True-- but they are still liable for damage that they cause to your vehicle. Not that I think a sticker would help so much... it probably wouldn't. But just because you get yourself towed does not mean you have to accept responsibility for damage caused by a tow company. Not to mention the fact that tow companies are usually run by jerks who don't care about laws or liability (no offense to any tow truck guys on the board ) and often tow for reasons beyond illegal parking. We had my wife's car towed off our street while it was legally parked because we went on vacation for a week and they thought the car was "suspicious" Man, were they pissed when we told them they could keep it! That thing was a piece of crap!

I got one in front of my old house when i moved in, the Uhaul was on the (very narrow) front yard backed up to the door, front end was angled on the road by about a foot or so, had an orange cone sitting there just in case.

I got a ticket for an illegally parked vehicle, WHILE we where unloading it.

Wait maybe I have misunderstood. Are our Jeeps considered AWD? I mean I know it's a 4x4 but that's only when the 4x4 is engaged, and if it's on normal 2wd mode would there be a problem if it was towed...I mean is there a awd system that would get damaged even if it's not on 4x4???

I'm not sure why, but yeah you can still mess some of them up even if it's in 2x4. A towing company had to buy my parents a new transmission for thier MPV van last year after not flatbedding it.

So how does the towing company know if you have the 4wd engaged? For the $15 it would cost to buy and ship the sticker it's worth it.

I just ordered some static cling material (What the ones on the site mentioned earlier are made of). Maybe I will have to become a sponserd vendor of this site..

If you print them like they are, they are quite large (about 2.5" x 6"). I need to do a little (Very little) work on them to reduce them in size. I can also change it to say 4WD instead of AWD.
