Thats why I don't keep anything of value in my Jeep and I leave my doors unlocked. Sorry to hear about your Jeep.

The damage is the worse part. Thieves are so lazy that they cut the window when the thing has zippers. Dumb!

With the softtop on, it's best to leave the doors unlocked unless you're someplace where someone using a knife would stand out--say middle of the daytime and you've been shopping and stop for a meal at a nice restaurant. Then it should be safe to lock the doors and keep the honest folks at bay. Sadly, there are a lot of stupid thieves who don't realize that the windows just unzipper for access. I wonder what they do when they have to go pee? "Hey, bud, be careful with that knife there!"

In Montreal, and in many other cities in Quebec, there are policemen walking and checking if the doors of the cars are locked. If it's not locked, you have a ticket.

In 2008, I parked my doorless Jeep in Outremont (city on the Island of Montreal) And, the police gave me a ticket because my doors was unlocked !!!
The police told me that I can drive my Jeep doorless, but if I park my Jeep, I have to lock the doors

Tell him your doors are double locked. You locked the mechanism when you put them in the garage and you locked the garage. Man, sounds like your police officers are loosing their common sense. Hope he finds something more his caliber, like ditch digging. And someone unload his weapon, or take the firing pin.

Cheers!

I just leave my jeep unlocked all the time, if they want in, they will get in, they'll pop a lock or smash a window if they have to.
