kbb says average trade in value for your model jk in york, pa is $23,725 and that's before the deduction for lifts, (not so many people want a lifted jeep as a stock one.)

I'd join everyone else in this thread saying it was a fair offer.

Check the trade in value of any car on KBB, then check the same vehicle for what the dealer would ask. Same vehicle, two totally different prices. That's where they get ya!

Ok, so I went in to have my title transfered from my mom's name to mine. She picked up the Jeep for me while I was in Iraq in April. So she put it in her name, with my check. For some reason the lady behind the counter told me the worth of my vehicle according to the DMV is 24,700. I was astonished. My Jeep is a 2010 Rubicon unlimited, and it only has 3000 miles on it. So according to that I lost 10,000 in 3 months.

x2. Could you strip almost everything that is a mod or add-on and still get that same 23k price? (tires, lift, accessories, bumper, winch, skids, etc.) Then you could sell everything else on here or Craigslist to make up a big chunk of the difference.

The stealership sure isn't going to give you the full value for what they're probably worth!

mods to jeeps actually HURT quite a bit the trade-in value...

MOST customers buying a used Jeep are going to automatically think that its been wheeled to hell and back and destroyed... even if it never saw a trail and even if it is maintained meticulous...

23k is a darn good offer on a 2009 sahara...

just this week I walked into my dealer to see if any 2011 brochures were available... and several times he has told me that he wants my 2009 unlimited.. because it is Bone stock and in showroom new condition...

in actuality I want to go back to a 2 door and to an automatic (the advice of my chiropractor.).. I may end up just handing them the keys to my 09 X and driving off the lot in a '10 Sahara.... with very little if any money difference...

the issue is right now that the used car market is DEAD due to cash for clunkers... there just arent a lot of good used vehicles out there...

Banks right now are skiddish about loaning money to marginal credit buyers on New cars because of the depreciation hit.... marginal credit buyers need late model used cars to get financing...

Banks are leery about loaning money on a modded vehicle esp to a marginal credit buyer.. unfortunately with the bad economy lots more buyers are in that marginal credit territory so dealers are feeling the heat to bring in good credit customers that have late model trades..

again like i and everyone else says i think 23k for a 2009 sahara is a GREAT offer.. esp since you could probably go out and buy that same Jeep new for that right now...

in my opinion if you saved all your stock stuff.. take the mods off that you can, sell those parts on here or other forums, and bring the Jeep back to stock.. you'll probably get the same 23k offer and you make some $$ on your parts....

He starts off showing me the discounts i would get on the new truck and at the bottom it says "TRADE 23,000" I laughed and told the guy thanks for wasting my time. Then he said what do you thinks its worth. I was like Ill meet you in the middle ill give you my jeep for 23000 and you take another 6 grand off the truck. needless to say im still driving my jeep.
How dumb do salesman think we are
has anyone else been offered a really lowball offer on their jeep
I was offered 23000 on my sahara right before i deployed to get into a new 09... KBB said it was worth 25000 i told them to pack sand.

Back in February I had my Jeep in for inspection so i was meandering around the lot checking out a slightly better equipped Yellow '09 with 17k miles on it. At the time my '08 had ~20k miles on it. I got to talking to the salesman and they offered me $18k for mine. I didn't figure that was bad considering I bought it brand new the year before for $16800 . The only thing hanging me up was the mods I have already done would have to be redone to the new one, I would lose my lifetime powertrain warranty (if thats actually worth anything), and I would also lose the 0% financing deal I currently have. In the end I decided to keep my current JK, but I still eyeball a yellow Jeep everytime I see one.

Key word...Lifted Jeep

I wouldn't buy a one because I don't know if that was factory or owner-installed.

I would assume this Jeep was used for Off-Road use...although some lift them for cosmetics.....but..........

$23,000 sounded pretty good...........I'm still thinking (off/on) about trading my 09 GTI in...I was looking at Xterra's yesterday but looking for the Off Road Package.
Also will wait for the 2011 Wranglers.....checked out the inside of the GC 2011 and the interior is awesome.I just don't think it's worth $42,000 +

helpful hint for next time...negociate the price of the truck first and once your in agreeance on it then throw in the "oh by the way, I want to trade me jeep in"
