You can buy off of e-bay a flat key and then program it with the two keys you get with the Jeep (they tell you how in the owners manual). I did this and then just put a hide a key in the engine compartment. I'd tell you where but I'm to lazy to walk out into the garage and look and I don't remember. I just remember it's on the driver's side somewhere and figure if I ever lock myself out I'll be able to find it. If you unlock with the key after locking it with the FOB (what does that stand for anyway) remember to hit the unlock button on your FOB when you first get in so the alarm doesn't go off.

Join AAA for $42. They open your vehicle for you AND you get a plastic flat key cut that fits in your wallet to open the door, if it happens again.

I have seen a small vault that you lock into your 2" receiver hitch that holds a key or two.

That's a neat idea, but with a tumbler combo lock, its only a matter of time before someone dials in the right number combo and has your keys. If your Jeep was backed into a parking space where it was consealed in the back, It'd be a matter of an hours time before the keys were in hand.. only a matter of starting at 0000 and working your way up.

At one try per second and 9999 possibilities it could take up to 2.7775 hours to find the right combination. I wouldn't worry too much about that. It would be faster to just brake in. And the truth is any determined thief will get what he's after. All locks do is just keep the lazy ones out.

Instead of a tumbler lock would you suggest maybe a key lock?
