you can get into a catch22 dilemma if you hide your keys there and someone parks right up your butt. you'll need to move the jeep to get the key, but to move the jeep you need the key.

Now I understand how you could get locked out of a jeep.

Assuming you have power door locks, there is another option, Any of you who know that ford Used to put the number pads on the drivers door that you could punch in a code to lock or unlock your doors. A company (I don't know which one ) came out with one that works wirelessly you can mount it anywhere you want on the vehicle, frame, door, engine compartment anywhere that you have a flat clean surface. My dealership sells them and installs them, if anyones interested pm me and I can find out the details. Basically works like a remote control. I was thinking about getting one for when I go surfing I can lock all my keys wallet etc.. in the jeep and not have to worry about it.

You could still wire in one door lock acutuator on the drivers door with an aftermarket security system and then the key pad I mentioned earlier could be programmed to it.

Y'all sure like to do things the hard and expensive way! There are plenty of places to hide a magnetic spare key holder. My previous truck, I just had a spare made, put it in a plastic bag, and zip tied to a wire loom up under the rear bumper. It was still there when I traded it on my Jeep. With a softop, I haven't bothered hiding a spare on it!!

Or, you could do like my mother in law, and hide it in the glove box

She locks herself out so much, the local Police told her they're gonna' quit responding to her calls. And, they were serious!
