Hydro-Locked Please Help!!
Hoping your insurance does you some justice. I have the AIRAID Cold Air Dam Intake I do notice the jeep breathes a lot better but I don't fly through deep water I just go slow and I've had no problems and I have gone through deeper than 25" but then again not to deep either.
I would find a good hiding spot. For that Cai. Have the oem parts @ the ready, incase ins co sends an inspector/ adjuster to verify damage. Have times and dates, cross.streets...any helpful info avail for them. U,ll orb get a check.to fix.it based on reasonable.estimates. do your homework, make sure what u get is enough to do the.repair......call a few.dealers for long block replacement or short block and heads.
These "Newer" Jeeps have no hood room.
My old '93 YJ had about 8 inches to spare
on top of the engine. So a CAI was doable.
But with these JK's there is less than 2 inches
of room to spare. If ya gotta run a CAI you have
no choice but to run a snorkel with it.

Okay heres the deal... i took my 09' Jk into a puddle the was about 25 inches deep and was going slow. i got about half way through and my jeep sputtered and died. i had it pulled out within 5 minutes so it didnt just sit there. i have an aftermarket banks cai and it took in alot of water. so i took it to my shop, pulled the plugs tried to shoot the water out and nothing happened, tried push starting it to crank the motor and get some water out. when we did that oil started pouring out between the engine and tranny it looks like. so we pulled the plug on the oil pan and about a gallon of water came out. so i believe all my oil/water is out. so i just wanted to see if my engine would even turn now with nothing in there, water or oil. i turned the key and it still sound like the starter is getting stopped. it just clicks. (brand new starter so i know thats not the problem) Please help i dont know what to do from this point.
Bummer that the engine is shot. I hope it works out for you....and I'm assuming you learned your lesson.
CAI plus water = bad news
I don't even understand the point of a CAI on a modern engine....especially if you are not opening up the exhaust and re-tuning. And on Jeep that will be off road?

I am pretty sure that the stock jeep is specified by Chrysler to be able to go through 30 inches of water. I gave mine a decent test driving around town after superstorm sandy here in NJ. Was so cool to be driving where many lesser vehicles were abandoned in the middle of the flooded roads.
