Hypermiling - does it work for you?
Yes well enjoying a Jeep also means being able to drive it more often. I don't know about you, but I'm not rich. $4.50 a gallon is just plain ridiculous, regardless of how much one loves their Jeep. It's about saving money. Doesn't everyone like to save money? Think about it. 16.5 mpg to 22.5 mpg is a %36 increase. At $4.50 a gallon with the 22.5 gallon tank, that's $100 to fill up!!!!! But by driving %36 more efficiently, you save $36 per fill up. Those are big numbers. $36 is a big savings at the pump and there's no disputing that.
The threads were combined, you need to tell us exactly who this was meant for.

but if the going back to elementary school was directed at me and my mpg computations
........well, in the simplest possible terms, arithmatic is spelled - a r i t h m e t i c.
I haven't tried the tire inflation thing. Keep meaning to get to that one.
I'm making double payments on my Jeep so that I'll save three years of having to pay interest. With that savings, I might get one of those plug in hybrid conversions if gas is still ridiculous. My JK's my daily driver and I don't want it to end up on the back burner as a second vehicle.

Lol...arithmetic is it then. Had a feeling I was going to mispell that one. Yes that post was meant for you. Those electronic mileage things can't account for drag and the Wrangler's about as aerodynamic (probably mispelling that one too) as a garage door.
second 3,668 miles, and 173 gallons of gas.........well you seem to be the expert on my math skills, so figure it out for your self.
It is not always the person you set out to insult that proves to be the imbecile.
Now, about higher elevations... In the past I have chosen to run the recommended 87 (or 88 if 87 is not available) when at a station that sells 85. The manual only says to use 87...so can you really use 85 at higher elevations?
Really wouldn't save much $$$...just wondering.
Hey guys (not you Yeti
), not to jump into this one but if you read enough of these type threads you will see the first thing that happens after a mileage is quoted, someone says "you know you can't trust the readout".
Don't ASSume anybody is using that pretty green readout. Some of us just got tired of saying "hand calculated" everytime we posted our mileage.

Lol...hey man don't feel insulted. Touchy touchy are we today? Just joshing with ya and yes I know you're just messing with me about my spelling typo.
I don't understand your post about the 3,000 or so miles, and the 173 miles or whatever it was. "Do the math" I think you said. Explain.
