Hypermiling - does it work for you?
Driving 10,000 miles per year, a 3mpg savings (16mpg vs 19mpg) at $4/gallon saves $33/month.
Driving 15,000 miles per year, a 3mpg savings (16mpg vs 19mpg) at $4/gallon saves $49/month.
Driving 20,000 miles per year, a 3mpg savings (16mpg vs 19mpg) at $4/gallon saves $65/month.
I drive about 10-12k per year, so I don't think it's worth it, but others may drive more and be on tighter gas budgets.

my neighbor, down the road, drives over to Irasburg every few days, gas is a nickel a gallon cheaper. He saves a buck every fillup!
Course Irasburg is 10 miles out into the middle of no where, so it does cost him $4.06 to drive there and back. But he does save a buck at the pumps, really, just try to tell him differently.
About $35 per fill up actually.
I was getting 16.5 mpg. Some times I get 22.5 mpg, a %36 increase.
Filling up my JK is $100 at $4.50 per gallon. So by being %36 more efficient, I'm
saving $36 per fill up. No, it's not the most exciting thing to do, but wouldn't you
want to save some bucks when you have to hit the grocery store in your JK? Why
not drive efficiently and save some money?

Here's something I just thought of. About this coasting in neutral stuff a lot of the new SMPFI vehicles cut off injectors while coasting so no fuel is being used anyway. Does anyone know if the Chryslers are programmed this way?
Hypermiling. Cool name for boring activity. Like adding Xtreme to the front of anything. Xtreme couch potato! Sleeping - to the Xtreme! Hyperwalking! Well, I guess running can be cool, but not if you call it hyperwalking.
Not too bad, dude. I'm at 17.9, a little bump from yesterday. There seems to be no end in sight!
I wish!
We'll see how high I can take it, I have a little more highway driving than city, so hopefully I can hit 20MPG or above! That'd be awesome!

Regarding hypermiling, I've been doing some things and getting 22.5 mpg:
- coasting in neutral, with auto trans, with engine off- but i heard this is bad
so i stopped doing it.
- anticipating lights- coasting along the road if i know i'm going to stop anyway and trying to beat red lights
- shut off engine at red lights
- slow acceleration
- drive at or below speed limit
- 30 seconds only to warm up engine
* thinking about converting it to a plug in hybrid when it's paid for.
* How's it going achi10?

I get 21.2mpg just by not driving like a 17yo in a Camaro.
I think the reading you are getting is due to idling at 800 rpms.
When you have been running normal speeds at about 1900 rpms for a min or two, your mpg may read more like 18 or 19.
Remember, Its a JEEP. NOT a Prius. You bought it because its a JEEP. ENJOY =)
