Thumbs up Hypertech

I just got done using my programmer and it was worth every penny. On my way home from the shop with my freshly installed 5.13's and I wanted to cry. I was going 65mph@3200RPM's after the recalibration I'm cruisin 65mph@2600RPM's. Now I will be able to sleep tonight!

I do have one question for those who have a programmer. Is there a specific setting or update for the power increase?

So, the only setting you changed was for the speedo calibration and you felt it was worth nearly $400? Or did you do more than the speedo corrections? $400 seems awful steep, especially since this tool can only be used on your JK--you can't even loan it to a friend. I'm still wavering on whether I want to do this or not.

The speedometer has nothing to do with the engine RPM and was the least of my worries. I recalibrated for tire size, gear changes, fuel type, and engine temperature.

With the new gears and no programmer at 65 MPH my JK was running at 3200 RPM's which is way too much for any long period of time.

With it reprogrammed 65 MPH at 2600 RPM's increase's gas mileage and less stress on the engine. Also with the engine running cooler it will increase performance.

So you're saying the programmer dropped your rpm's 600?? Are you sure you weren't ACTUALLY going over 65 mph before you programmed it, and now, at 2600 rpms, you doing a legit 65? Something doesn't add up, or if I'm wrong, thats one hell of programmer!

I'm on the fence too. If I could gain 2 MPG with this unit, I could justify spending $400 and it would pay for itself in 2 or 3 years. I'd like to be able to reprogram for my tire size, I switch back and forth in summer and winter, but I'm not ponying up that chunk of cash just to adjust for tire size. Anyone out there have one of these and can honestly say they are getting better mileage without using premium fuels? I'd like to hear, I've searched the threads here about Hypertech and can't find anyone saying this.

I have a GPS which tells how fast I am going. Without the programmer my speedo said 60 when I was doing 65, Now it says 65 and I'm going 65.

So when my GPS said 65 without the programmer I was @ 3200 RPM's.
Now when the GPS says 65 with the programmer it is @ 2600 RPM's

I am not trying to make anyone buy this unit, I have no connections with Hypertech( I wish I did ). I am just sharing my joy because I was sceptical about it myself and to me it was worth it.

Edit- I will let you know about fuel mileage be the end of the week.

Let's just say with my driving to and from work with highways, stop and go traffic and the amount of downshifting I have to do to get up the mountains in Ringwood. My gauge told me 244 miles until empty, I am not lying when I tell you it was half of that with stock calibration,3.73's and 35's. I only got 122 miles to the tank, again I'm not a mileage crybaby I am just stating facts. I could care less if I got 2 miles to the gallon as long as I'm having fun.

, that was a good one.......... the anything and everything section has a thread for one liners. You can take your dry jokes over there.

I was sharing with the people that have actually thought about purchasing this, this obviously doesn't concern you.

Question Did it help.....

Did it help with the disconnected delay in throttle response?? If it did I will get one just for this.

I HATE this, dump the clutch, (and it does not matter if I stomp the gas or feather the pedal in), then wait a second or 2.............then it accelerates. WTF ?

2 cents : What is wrong with a throttle cable?
.....Electrical/Electronics engineers getting bored and under appreciated?
