I have an HK USP .40 with BA6 Laser system, but I keep my TomTom in one of the pouches on my GEAR cover. I dont lock the doors and keep the windows unzipped on warm days. I'd rather they open the door than slash it.

Right now, with the soft top on, I don't lock it and don't keep anything in it I'll miss.

If I have my laptop with me, I'll either carry it with me or cable-lock it to something solid.

With the hard top, I'll probably start locking it. Mainly out of habit.

Sure, but I'm not seeing how well it would work if you're not with the vehicle.

Without the correct RFID key, it won't run. Can't override it, can't defeat the computer without some sophisticated hardware that 99.99% of opportunistic car thieves won't have. They will have to tow it to steal it.

I know an owner of a 2007 Saleen Mustang who purchased one of these... Almost no chance to beat it.

My regards,

Widewing

I bought a club today. Decided to cheap out. That security key fob looks like a great idea though for the future

As far as hot wiring, it is near impossible. As stated it would have to be towed. You gotta remember a car thief gives himself no more than 8-10 mins to get in get it running and get away. For a chrysler with transponder RF chipped keys, and MUX start/accessory wiring...it would take approx 15-20 mins to run through all of the available resisitors to activate the starter, on top of trying to figure out the RF signal. If you add an alarm like i have, more than likely unless its a slash and grab for something loose, they are just going to move onto the next vehicle thats an easier target.

I just wanted to add that with a hardtop it is not any different than any other vehicle to break into. They will have to smash a window. I don't keep anything of any value in mine so it they do break in I am only out the window.

I had BestBuy put in a cobra alarm with a proximity sensor. It works very well. I also had them put a kill switch on the proximity sensor, so that when it rains it does not chirp all night. It's very sensitive.
