Here in central Illinois I get a return wave about 80% of the time. Not bad. Its fun noting the different levels of enthusiasm from various drivers. I will get the couple fingers lifted from the steering wheel to the whole arm out the window wave and everything in between. I really enjoy being a part of this community. I'm a longtime Mustang driver and have noticed that other automotive communities have a lot to learn from the Jeep crowd. Its less about having something that the other guy doesn't and more about enjoying the Jeep experience.

I am ticked off! A fellow steel blue JK blew me off! I get waves from TJ's all day. This is the second JK-Unlimited in two days to blow me off! What's up? They don't like 2 doors?

I also was denied by a JK unlimited. I'm currently 1 of 5 since picking up my JK on Saturday. (I was thrilled when I got the wave from an older TJ.)

There are a few JKs in my town, and the other day I drove by 1 and got a VERY enthusiastic wave back (I still drive my TJ), you could tell she was PSYCHED to be driving her new JK. Few hours later....drove by another JK, and got snubbed. It is what it is, I guess......

I usually wave (first) whenever i see Jeeps (I mean JK, TJ, YJ, CJ etc.). Older Jeeps usually wave back or they even wave before me (6~7 out of 10). JK? 1~2 out of 10!

The other day, someone in Jeep Compass wave... I didn't wave back... on time... I wasn't expected. I didn't meant to snub... did I?

Many non-Jeep drivers talk to me though... First, I enjoyed the attention but now, I'm getting tired of answering all the questions... talking to strangers at gas station, parking lot, someone next to at stop light... Now, I understand what celebrity has to go through! Even a State trooper talked to me how much he likes new JK Unlimited when I pulled at Starbucks (yes, most of the cops here - State trooper, city cops, county sheriff etc. - goes to Starbucks and hang out instead to Donut shops). I got nervus because I had doors off and only had a mirror on driver's side... he didn't say anything about that. He was cool!

I only wave to real Jeeps...now to include the Unlimited. Liberty's, Compasses, Cherokee's etc. get no love from me, not that one of them has ever waved to me...at least not that I've never noticed...because I've never looked for one.

Found this: http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1238

Maybe we should wave to Patriot and other Jeep "SUV"s... maybe not...

Well, we have KJ (my wife drives it mostly) and when I drive KJ, I don't expect getting any wave though... I don't bother wave at "Jeep" either. It's funny thing... when I drive JK (or TJ before) I usually wave. When I drive KJ, never wave to anyone.

Those Jeep rules are cute and worth a chuckle, but they're just absurd. In the 1-2 second interval where you're approaching another Jeep, that's a LOT of mental math to cover before deciding who should initiate the wave, etc. That's what I would say if I took it seriously.

In reality, the rules are real simple: Wave to any Wrangler you see - go ahead and initiate it.

Personally, I wave to any Wrangler, period. I also wave to any Cherokee, Liberty or Grand Cherokee that has obvious mods (lift, off-road lights, etc.); I will end up doing the same for modded Patriots, too (although I haven't seen such a thing yet).

I do NOT wave to Compasses or Commanders, because in my area, they're all driven by soccer moms that don't know a thing about the wave, and just give me a confused look in return...
