JK or not?
Yes but the X comes with 16's. I have a set of X tires and rims and they are about 2" shorter than the 18's on the jeep. Stands to reason that the 17's would be 1" shorter. Now I don't know what tire is on the 17's but I know the Sahara with stock 18's sits higher than the stock X.
Tires on the 18 and 17" wheels from the factory are 255/70-18 and 255/75/17...both the same tire basically, just different wheels. They measure about 32x10ish. The factory 16's are the smaller ones coming in just under 30". I'd say the 18's might give the illusion of being bigger just because you're looking at the larger wheel.

225/75/16 = 29.3x8.9/16
255/75/15 = 30.1x10/15
255/70/18 = 32.1x10/18
It all depends on where ya are. It's a pretty even split around me with the X's on the lot...between 17's and 16's. Thing is to get the 17's, they have to order the C quick order package which is the more expensive of the two. The option itself doesn't seem like much on the sticker, but 'til you factor in the difference in cost between the B & C packages, it ends up being cheaper just buy a set used or going aftermarket (unless ya happened to be looking for everything included in the upgraded package).
Now that's for 07's, not sure what the specifics are with the 08's. It's always bugged me how certain options have to have a prerequisite option. Happened to me with the WK and getting a sunroof and happened with the JK with forcing the e-disco's on me to get the locker.

I did not know that. I know the standard X package comes with 16's. I guess you can put 17's (did not know specifics) on them if you order them but I bet it will be hard to find one on a lot in stock. That said doing a conversion of the numbers on Redrock 4X4's conversion chart there is still a difference in the two tire sizes. This is cut from the calculator after doing the conversion. I also threw in the stock 16's.

255/70/18 = 32.1x10/18
I just ran it and got
255/75/17 = 32.1x10/17
Looks like they are the same diameter as the 18s.
OOPS funny what happens when you are tired.
From hence forth and untill further notice do not believe anything I might claim without reading it and double checking. Right now I am so messed up it's pathetic. Ever listed a house and get a sight unseen offer brought in within hours? This was my realitor and they require a chect to see if they buyer can get a loan before they make an offer. Also they had seen the property from the outside but not the house so it is odd. The offer was not enough yet.

I think the phrase "stuff" happens applies.
The finger was probably hitting so many 5s that it just pecked out another one.
Good luck on the house. The market is supposedly cooling down but sounds like not in your neighborhood. Here's hoping you get your price.

Ugh... A little sad right now... After all this, I was almost set on going and buying a jeep, even without test driving one... But I just spent a few minutes configuring a Wrangler... and the dual top option killed me! I didn't realize it was a $2,000 option. It really puts me out of my price range.... The wrangler may end up being just a dream car for me after all this...

The sticker on this was $26,910 BEFORE I talked them into pulling a hard top off another Jeep on the lot (add $1500). With tax, this would have totaled about $30,500. Minus my trade (and JK taxed after trade in at 7%), it would have been about $27,750.
And my out the door price was just that. $24k out the door. No extra doc fees, etc. It did take them about three hours to install the hook-ups for the hard top, though ( I don't think they were considering that. Sorry, guys...).
We had to do some serious haggling to get that deal. The whole time we insisted that this Wrangler wasn't EXACTLY what we wanted and that another dealer had EXACTLY what we wanted for less money (quoting a "deal" they never gave us). All the while, I was sitting there thinking how pissed I'd be if someone else got MY Jeep sitting outside the window. By the end of our two hour "negotiation", my girlfriend had cussed out the floor manager for being "obnoxious" and we were pulling out of our parking spot to go to the next dealer when the manager came flying out of the building with a piece of paper he scrawled "$24,000 out the door" on (which he smashed on my old TJ's front window). Quite comical.
To say that you HAVE to pay sticker is silly. Be ready to battle and be ready to move on to the next guy. Look at Edmunds.com and get the invoice price for the vehicle. Know what you're willing to pay for any given JK on the dealer's lot. I actually printed out each one I was interested in at local dealers from Jeep.com (dealer search) and did an itemized invoice cost to get an idea how much haggle room I had. Last but not least, bring a calculator and don't be intimidated.
Good luck!
