JK Theft, cause for concern?
I live in SoCal and in a port city and hear that Wrangler's in general are hot targets for theft. It would make sense since the rear seat and hard top are worth over 5k alone to replace. I have a 2-door and the first thing I did was removed the rear seat since I have no use for it. Anti-theft coded keys are crap and just add 30 seconds to someone trying to steal your car anyway.
Have any Jk owners or past models had your wrangler stolen? I guess the best piece of mind is to get lojack which is not a problem. Any other ideas? If you vehicle was stolen was it recovered or MIA?

Suggestion:
Stay east of the traffic circle...
I miss hanging out at the marina by CSULB. Have a beer at The Yard (ins't that the one with over 100 drafts...)for me.
Seriously, I hope this isn't true. I took the third row seat out of my Eddie Bauer Expedition for this very reason. Darn heavy and took up too much room in my garage. I can't do that with the JK as I need the back seat in there.

JK's are at risk for being stolen in SoCal. I have heard of a few being ripped off in a very short amount of time. There is a company that makes a keyed system that wires into your wiring harness. They have been in business for quite a while and have never had a car stolen even though there have been attempts reported. I can't remember the name of the company but I have considered getting this over Lojack.
BTW, I am a cop in SoCal and in over 10 years have only seen a few of the Lojack vehicles that were stolen recovered. The Lojack is not activated until the owner knows their vehicle is stolen, and a police report is filed, then lojack activates the system. Not to mention that the equipment is dated and we are seeing less and less of it in our police cars. it used to be a lot of the units were outfitted with it, not so much anymore. They removed the lojack system from our helicopters due to them not being all that effective.

How does one steal a JK ... with the Sentry system onboard? ( i guess short of putting the JK on a flat bed) ... and if once you have stolen it .... how do you get around the Sentry? .... (part it out?)
I would think with all the electronics in the JK that a manual "Kill Switch" should be an easy mod.
Considering that some of the boys in the electronic part of the forum have hacked every other part of the darn thing... While your there see if anyone can get super mario brothers on the mygig

Too bad we can't get one of them things like in Robocop. The deal that locks um in the seat and electrocutes um till their hair is smokin and then just dumps their fried smokin body out on the ground. That would rock.
Car theft follows a simple rule... the more popular it is on the street (as in sales) the more likely it is to be stolen. Take the Honda Civic for example... they sold like mad, and were also stolen like mad. Do any of these seem like they were popular at one time?

These are old lists, but prove my point.

thats why people with ferraris and lambos dont worry, if they get stolen, the car sticks out like a sore thumb and they will get caught alot easier.
which is why most of those cars on there are on there. they blend in with everything and theirs so many of them.
so if your jeep has a 3 inch lift tires and lights galore. i wouldent worry too much.

Everyone,
Take all precautionary to guard your beloved Jeep. I had a fully built 03 Rubi with 6 inch FT Long Arm lift, 35 inch tires, ARB bull bar, roof rack, spare tire carrier, and a list of all the mods that made my vehicle one of a kind. I also live in a great neighborhood. My beloved "Tough Rider" a name given by my nephew was taken from me about 10 months ago. The feeling was very empty at the point that the vehicle was deem stolen. Many memories in that Jeep. It was truly one of a kind
Right now, Rubicons are the number one stolen vehicles in So Cal. Supposedly there was a bounty from Mexico for Rubicons.
My vehicle wasn't a JK but that doesn't mean that JKs aren't on the list. If they want it bad enough, they will get it. Don't take this matter lightly, don't want any of you to go through what I went through.
