JK Theft, cause for concern?
I am interested in learning more about security also. Maybe we can create a new thread where members can share what security they are using. The JK I wanted was on the lot and just happened to come with a remote start? Am I at more of a risk because of the remote start?

Check it out.
WEll so sum it all up I got RAVELCO installed today. I did a lot of research and this really is the best option to not have your JK leave your driveway or from anywhere else for that matter. Since I travel a lot and have not near my vehicle weeks at a time I feel much better now knowing that it will be there when I return.
$400. a lot less then Lojack. I don't want my Jeep stolen then have to call them to start tracking it. I rather have it not leave where I parked it. Ravelco has 100% no hot wire rate over a 30 year period. I think that is pretty damn impressive.
JK's are at risk for being stolen in SoCal. I have heard of a few being ripped off in a very short amount of time. There is a company that makes a keyed system that wires into your wiring harness. They have been in business for quite a while and have never had a car stolen even though there have been attempts reported. I can't remember the name of the company but I have considered getting this over Lojack.
BTW, I am a cop in SoCal and in over 10 years have only seen a few of the Lojack vehicles that were stolen recovered. The Lojack is not activated until the owner knows their vehicle is stolen, and a police report is filed, then lojack activates the system. Not to mention that the equipment is dated and we are seeing less and less of it in our police cars. it used to be a lot of the units were outfitted with it, not so much anymore. They removed the lojack system from our helicopters due to them not being all that effective.
