JK vs JKU
I'm new the JK game, but I feel like I see tons more unlimiteds. Even in all if the 4WD catalogs. I have only ever wanted a 2dr and after driving the unlimited, I was not impressed. Seemed more like an SUV than a true wrangler.
Of course this is all my opinion. Just wanting to understand why so many choose the unlimited.
Thanks!

I chose the unlimited just for cargo space. Go on a lot of hiking trips and have a ton of gear. The extra space is huge. I loved my TJ. Have never needed the backseat in either 2 door or 4 door, but the extra space was a huge factor for me.
The JKU is also a better climber better at higher speeds and it will be more stable in certain situations. There is trade-offs no matter what you get you just decide what works best for you and the terrain you drive in. There is no wrong answer if it fits your needs which could be nothing more than the 2 door is cheaper.

Had 2 YJ and a TJ and remember drooling over the TJ Dakar concept which had 4 doors all while I didn't have kids and no need for a backseat.
Just came back to jeeps with my JKUR 10A and never even considered the JK. For some reason, it looks oddly short. Don't know if its the widht of the JK or the square rear corners of the hardtop that gives that illusion, but it doesn't look as good as the TJ.
Add to that the longer wheelbase which gives a much better ride and the cargo space for kids, gear or dog or all 3 for that mather, and it's no wonder why the JKU sells much more than the JK.
The only place where I believe the JK is superior, is in very tight trails....

I think the JKU is a beautiful vehicle! Jeep could not have done a better job of making the traditional 2 dr into a 4 dr. That being said, I have wanted a jeep since I was 10. I don't have kids, and I have a full size 4 dr diesel to take care of anything heavy duty I might need. I got the 2 dr because it reminds me of what I'v always wanted. You should get whatever turns you on!!!
