Not cool for the modified crowd
I look forward to the opportunity to wave at a Jeep on the road. It's one of the highlights of a drive to just about anywhere (I'm retired, so it doesn't take much to impress me). Some wave back, some don't. Often times I just wave and don't really pay attention to see if they returned it or not--too busy keeping an eye on the road (as they may be, as well). Bottom line: Keep it alive!
Definitely keep the wave going whether you get one back or not - my JK was my first Wrangler and got my first wave the day the day after I picked it up on my to work. Sounds silly, but for me it was pretty awesome to get to do that now. Keep it up!
I actually converted a non-waver the other day. Have seen a stock 2 door X with a cute looking brunette pretty much every morning on my way to work. (And no, before you ask, I do not have any pics
) She usually passes by me the same time every morning, heading in the opposite direction. After about a month of not getting the wave back, she finally started returning the wave.
I wave at every Wrangler I see, regardless of year or mod level. If I get a wave back, great. If not, oh well. I even have my GF calling out Jeeps that I might not see to make sure I wave. She said she waved at another Caddy driver the other day, but didn't get a wave back .................

Like the wife said just be the bigger man and keep the wave alive.
I think a lot of "new" jeep owners don't know what you are doing. They think this person thinks I am someone else.
Too many buyers buying a jeep to have a convertable.

It's one of the first things my dad taught me driving in his CJ when I was a kid. Don't get many initiated waves from the TJ's but that's because there's so many JK owners that don't wave and they're used to that. It's mainly because there are so many JK owners that aren't enthusiasts and just plain don't know.
It's a nice friendly gesture to fellow Jeep lovers, that's why I like it. I've had 1 YJ, 2 TJs, and now my JK and have met many great people along the way.

Keep the faith! Keep waving and if they wave back --- enjoy the brotherhood. Here in Idaho I get about 50/50 returns. If the Jeep is modified at all the rate climbs--
Have fun-- that is why we all own Jeeps!
