Default Oil Filter

Which one would be the best to use (or does it even matter)?

1) Mopar
2) Mobil 1 (I plan on using Mobil 1 synthetic oil)
3) K&N
4) Pure One
5) Amsoil (I doubt this will be readily available locally)

I'd prefer to not order the filter as my JK has hit 1,100 miles and I should change my oil like pronto.

ALSO, does the filter come with the rubber ring (gasket)?????

thanks

Don't forget FRAM and they are already in stock.

My understanding is that Fram is a crappy filter.

I am willing to spend a tad more for a good filter. I know I always used Bosch (and Mobil 1) on my '93 Corrado.

I use the K&N, it's a good filter, and has a nice handy "nut" welded to the base of the filter so you can use a socket wrench to take it off when doing oil changes. No screwing with strap wrenches!

These filters are Frams, Purolators, or Wixes. Mopar does not manufacture it's own filters, nor do they require anything special from these manufacturers. Since they basically paint them a different color, stamp them with a Mopar logo, and double the price, there is no reason to buy them.

I don't know why everybody keeps trashing fram. I have used them for over ten years in a half dozen cars and never had any problems.

Same here never had a problem either, but FRAM has had a bad rep.

I've been using fram for 35 years without a problem. I wonder why they are the #1 selling filter since they are so bad????

I dunno. Maybe because they are cheap?

But really, if they are just as good, then I'd consider using them (nothing wrong with saving some coin).

I don't have a problem with Fram or any of those, but personally prefer K&N. Picking an air filter is like picking shampoo in *most* cases, its all a matter of personal preference. I'm sure there are plenty of arguements for why some are better than others, but for the most part they all work great.
