I'm talkin to Billy right now to get the right part . He said Tech Connect will also have a tsb on the oil pan adapter. and that is what Billy had to do for your Jeep to finally fix it. I'm dropping of my Jeep now and asking them to keep it till its fixed!

thanks

Yeah they did the oil pan stuff because THEY MISdiagnosed it the first time. The timing cover was leakin on mine the whole time. But....their system is kinda like big brother now. They are connected directly with Chrysler. Oh what fun. They have to do EXACTLY what Chrysler says. Billy's the MAN. He's old school like me. He's not JUST a parts guy. He's an old mechanic/drag racer from WAY back. He'll make sure you get hooked up.

I told Billy that the newest drip forming glows in my blacklight. He said that confirms it is still leaking and not just left over residue.

Once again many thanks. I'll see if this finally gets it done. [fingers crossed]

[side note: I started getting the 'cHange oIL' indicator come on when I start the engine. There is a tsb about that too - 08-013-08 - which I printed out and handed the dealer]

Good luck. If nothing else....at least you could probably ride to Macon and get it fixed. LOL

Well I put the Wrangler in to the dealer on 15 Sep and got it back today 30 Sep. When I dropped it off I told them to keep it till it's fixed. [That's what should have happened the first time, let alone the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc...]

They called me this afternoon and said it was "all fixed". [hmmm, they NEVER said that before...]

Anyways, they said they'd contacted the head Chrylser tech and they put a new intake manifold 2-piece gasket. [I think part # 478103AB]

We shall see if this finally does fix it! I'll check back with y'all in a few days or a week or so....

So far it seems like the leak is fixed! [knock on wood]. btw the part was the 'lower intake manifold'. I don't know what that looks like.

Does anyone know where I could find an engine diagram online?

thanks.

Great! It certainly stands to reason that if Manuel is castin el cheapo timing covers that he's probably castin el cheapo intakes, too. I sure wish they wouldn't farm out so much stuff. We'd have REAL vehicles again.

and lookup the tsb for TSB - 3.8L Engine Oil Seepage Due To Front Timing Cover Surface Porosity which is tsb 09-008-07

I've got this problem and they've finally swapped the specific part, but I still see an oil drip.. I'm trying to be wait and see if this is just left over residual oil, but it glows in blacklight. see my other post below:

" I’ve been into the stealership 4 times for this. Each time they made the wrong diagnosis [the ones in the tsb 09-008-07]. After [apparently] doing this tsb [new cover] no leaks till two days later. I took it back in and was told it was just residual oil on the clips and lines. They said they cleaned it all out, but two days later there’s that drip again[on the juncture of the the tranny/engine]. They told me it was probably still left over oil-that they currently have dye in my engine and to drive it over the weekend and they will look at it again. I pulled out my own blacklight and the drip glowed. I don’t know for sure if that is a real leak, or if it is old dye from the first couple times??

The lemon law in my state is 4 ‘reasonable’ attempts. I think I’ve been MORE than reasonable. I’ll post back after next week… wish me luck! "

Anyone else have this prob? If so, did it get fixed? How do I know the drip is or isn't still a leaky engine?

any help will be appreciated!

thanks
I dont have a drip... but the dry mud on my engine... at the top seems to have a wet oil like appearance.... i wonder if I would qualify?

I don't have a real good shot, but your oil filter screws into it. It's that whole big hunk of aluminum right behind the harmonic balancer that extends up to the water pump and across the whole front of the engine. Pretty much the engine's "front plate" you might say.
