Default Quick question- swapping hook for trailer insert

Pretty much says it in the title, on my jku, there's a hook and I want to replace it with a trailer hitch insert/adapter however you want to phrase it, how do I go about doing it. What do I need to buy and is it difficult?

I think you're asking about installing a trailer hitch...??? It's easy. The hitch installs with 4 metric bolts through the frame cross-member. If your recovery hook is in the center, it is installed using the same bolt holes. Remove the hook, install the hitch.

One other consideration is wiring. I opted for the MOPAR kit, which installs into the left, rear taillight using the factory wiring (i.e. no splicing or creative wiring work required). The other nice thing about the factory wiring is that it is wrapped in a protective loom and has plugs to install into factory plug holes (keeps the install clean). There are other, less expensive wiring options.

ETA - your posted pic confirms my first statements.

^x2. Takes 20 minutes at most. You may want to remove the bumper (6 bolts) if the nuts aren't welded onto the hitch but if you have tiny fingers you may be fine otherwise.

They would be cheaper online or try looking in the For Sale forum. You will probably need a wire harness to match what ever trailer you are towing.

I swapped mine out with the bumper on in less than 20 minutes with basic hand tools. I bought the hitch from one of the forum sponsors for about $90. I didn't get the harness since I was planning on using it with a bike rack. HTH
