Pacing isn't admissable in some states, so they cant write you up, but depends on the state.

Cops hide in the dark behind bushes and signs and stuff... waiting in zones where the speed has dropped for no reason just hoping you didn't notice the drop from 55 to 40 so they can empty your wallet.

I think a radar detector helps level out the playing field a little bit. My area does not use instant on, so I see them forever a way.

They pace around here on the country roads.
I call it trolling.
They start out right at the limit, then slowly slow down to a few MPH below when somebody gets behind them.
When the people behind them get annoyed enough, they pass.
The cop catches up to the annoyed driver (i.e. pissed off and more likely to speed) and paces the post-pass speed. BAM!
I've seen it happen many times and consider it to be an incredibly slimy way of generating revenue, er, I mean, passing out tickets.

Normally they can't ticket you because of it, its normally not an approved speed-measuring device, it only gives them enough cause to stop you and brief you

I know we can't pace on base, but hey SCHP might be able to, lol

Seems I'm wrong, apparently cops can pace, I digress :-)
