It costs more to add features that the Rubicon already has rather than just purchase it from the start. But if I was planning to do an extreme build with Dana 60's, an Atlas T-Case and larger than 37's, I would start out with a Sport Model. Don't waste your money on the Rubi and swap all that stuff out. Hope that helps, it just my 2 cents..
Solid 2 cents.

I am happy I ordered the Rubicon. Hope this helps.

I paid about $8,700.00 less for my base model 2012 JKU Sport, if that gives any perspective on cost difference

I know people get all sensitive over this subject and defensive of their Rubi's but if you plan on building a serious off road rig then the Rub just isnt worth it...Everything that the Rubi comes with could be installed with high quality aftermarket parts for less than the difference of a Sport to a Rubicon.

Difference between Sport and Rubi is roughly 8-10k depending on options and what not.

Built Pro Rock 44 with ARB and your choice of gears - $5,500.00
Gear job for rear axle - $500.00
Rear ARB - $1,000.00
Sway Bar disconnects - $80-100.00 (Currie Antirock - $350.00)
Atlas Transfer Case - $3,300.00

Did I miss anything else the Rubicon comes with?

Just something to think about...You would be spending about the difference(not including labor) and all of these components are far superior to the prone to breakage Rubi components.

Next Jeep I buy as a pure DD will probably be a Rubi.

I know someone is going to flame me for this but, it is what it is
Totally agree that's why I went with one a lot of bang for your buck. And you don't plan on going larger than 37s and make your self a crazy crawler. And if that's the case I'd buy a 07 with a blown motor and start from scratch

I wish I could have got one but to make realistic financial sense I couldn't. I know everyone says if you want to upgrade your rig start with sport and build it up that way but moss ain't cheap and the rubi had a bunch of neat toys all built in with a warranty so its your call bro. I also got to say I love my sport though

For me it was. Lockers, super low crawl ratio, and front axle sold me.

I should say also, I dont plan on adding much more then lights and tires. If you're going for a "really" built jeep, you may want to start with a base model.

I bought a '12 rubi...my thoughts were were either finance a little more upfront and have the lockers, the axles which are perfectly capable of wheeling 37" tires (with slight mods to the front shafts ie chrome moly) or buy something that you need to dump a ton of CASH into...now I pay a little more per month for it but all my cash cab go into all the other stuff...lift, tires, wheels, bumpers etc...

Seriously...no one can answer that question except for you.

If you are going to swap axles and run heavy 37's with beadlocks anyway.....get the Sport.

If you are going to run 35's on the D44's get the Rubi.

With that said.....you may be able to get some of your money back by selling the Rubi wheels and axles while you keep the transfer case.
