Well of course they're issuing a recall without actually fixing the problem THEY'RE RECALLING!
Can you imagine how much money they'll make when people bring their jeep in to get the "improved" dust cover installed and end up having to pay some absurd amount to get the clock spring fixed too? Nothing but a scam. Sad..

Default my interior does not see mud

and everything on my steering wheel works fine , including stereo buttons and functions . I dont need some one pulling things apart creating a issue that wasnt there before i brought it in. Can you opt out of the recall ?

Noah doesn't mention it in his article, but the press release at the bottom says the recall is to replace the clockspring assembly.

Exactly. And in addition to replacing the clock spring, they are going to fix the root cause, which is to replace the other things that allow it to get screwed up in the first place.

Sounds good to me!

not sure that it includes the whole clock spring assembly . but either way i really dont want mine tampered with seeing i dont have any issues with mud or dirt inside my jeep

i do see it says :
Affected by this campaign are model-year 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler SUVs. An additional 7,435 model-year 2011-2016 vehicles equipped with right-hand drive for special duty also are affected in the U.S

What do they mean by /right hand drive (special duty ?)
right driven mail vehicles i could see ,but special duty i dont get

You won't know there is anything wrong with the clock spring until the air bag fails to deploy. That's a pretty crappy time to find out.

Default yeh i guess but

if it creates malfunction in other electrical components while they are in there.
they wont cover elec. stuff now that your out of warranty if you end up with things that dont work correctly or malfunction later

oh well
